I moved to Prattville in 1999. Prattville and Millbrook have grown exponentially. Nobody wants to go to Montgomery unless it's absolutely necessary. Everytime I turn around, there's a new 200-400 house subdivision being built in Prattville. Montgomery is a shite hole. I lived in Millbrook for most of my life and Montgomery for a few.
Millbrook is a small town, hole in the wall type of town, but it’s 1000x better than having to deal with anything in Montgomery. East chase is the only thing that remotely makes Montgomery worth going to at all.
Prattville seems to be the king of that area now with Millbrook a close second. Wetumpka is kinda shite but even it’s better than Montgomery.

The real problem with his comments is that he doesn't give a shite about Maxwell and Gunter. Those are the AFBs in Montgomery. They are at risk of losing funding due to shitty standard of living conditions in the area. If the bases close down, everyone around that area is fricked. His dad was one of the most corrupt political figures this area has ever seen and I expected nothing less from him. Like his pop, Steve is smart and knows this town. All of the money and trust fundies living in Cloverdale and trying to cram breweries and boutique shops into Cottage Hill and downtown will vote for this guy. The yankees retiring early from Maxwell and working on their second retirement from the state will vote for this guy. The black vote will go 99% for this guy.
Meanwhile, Montgomery has exploded in crime numbers. He talks about whites moving? Outside of the aforementioned Cloverdale money, east Montgomery money and a few hipster stragglers on the fringes of Cloverdale and Capital Heights, they're gone. Prattville was beginning to explode when I moved here. Millbrook and Wetumpka are growing fast. New money is flooding into Pike Road. The public school system in Montgomery got busted a few years back for blowing millions of tax dollars on parties and strippers. But Steve invoked Maxwell AFB skipping town and got taxes hiked for "education" with little difficulty.
He thinks he's rebuilding this town on professional race hustling. Southern Poverty Law Center and their split-off EJI are getting fat building museums and education centers and it does draw in a lot of out of state tourism, but this town would go from 60-40 slum to about 90% slum practically overnight if the air force closed shop here.
Now he's waffling. He already invoked George Floyd as his defense and after a presser and a lot of veiled racism accusations, the local press (and any likely any national picking this story up) will be heralding him as Obama Junior. Again.
