Then why can't engineers write?
It's been my experience that the field with the smartest people in it is Library Sciences. I used to party with some library science majors in college, holy shite. Those girls were smart as hell, funny as shite, and if you didn't watch out, they would get you drunk and frick with your head.
Good times...

This. Also, depending on university and major, you could use educated and indoctrinated interchangeably.

I have a master's degree and I can assure you, college educated does NOT mean smart.
Exhibit a) myself
Exhibit b) colleges graduate about anyone anymore as it's about the money, not the aptitude. A lot of even master's level grads were barely able to read, write, or even do basic math. It's crazy how hard it is for teachers to fail students.

I know a lot of dumb educated people. Hell, the dumb educated people don't even know what bathroom to use, what a woman is and think men can have babies.

It was made very clear when the mass firings began
65% of black women with degrees hold government jobs. These are women who got their degrees thru DEI, specifically because they would not have otherwise. And whose salaries werent enough to pay back students loans, that allowed them to attend college in the first place
So if the qualifier to decide "more educated" means you dumbed down the pool to get that degree, then I have doubts about the underlying rationale behind the assertion

I’ve been saying this and it’s obvious to anyone who’s paying attention

I have worked with several people who were Harvard graduates. They may have had knowledge but were devoid of common sense and afraid to make decisions. I helped get a couple of them terminated before they killed someone. So, education alone does not mean that a person is intelligent and doesn't always reflect how someone will perform.
I have yet to see proof that dem voters are better educated and more intelligent than those who vote Republican. Also, many conservatives are hesitant to participate in polls and surveys that ask for personal information.

quote:Interesting question.
Just read in the latest chapter of White Shift by Kaufman. It's true that more college grads vote Dem. But the breakdown is interesting. More females vote Dem and more males vote GOP. The Dem majority is because there are more females in college than males. However, males dominate the STEM fields requiring higher IQ than the females majoring in stuff like music and social justice Therefore, smarter students vote GOP.
I tend to think that IQ/intelligence in GOP voters tends to follow a classic bell curve, while mapping IQ for the Dems would tend to produce a much flatter curve, perhaps even with spikes at each tail.

Met tons of people with degrees on the wall that are the dumbest SOBs on the planet. Can't spell, speak well much less add 2+2 but get degrees anyway. Don't be fooled and don't let the media gaslight ya.

I’m in a situation where I “precept” doctoral students. The mind virus of liberalism and DEI have infiltrated the highest levels of education and the majority of them truly suck.

Those idiots holding the ping-pong paddles the other night didn't impress me. The people who voted for them, or either Biden or Kamala, certainly do not represent the smartest of our nation.
And I have two pieces of paper, so this certainly isn't an opinion borne out of sour grapes, resentment, or envy.

Two of the dumbest people I have ever met in my life had a PhD. This was when I worked at LSU. I'll leave it at that. Educated does not even come close to being smart.

Y'all remind me which political party has to spend tens of millions to hold their voter's hands to get them to the correct venue on the correct day and which party can just assume a general functionality from their voters?

Nerds lack self confidence, usually.
Which is why they rigidly stick to systems.

Better educated or better re-educated?
Not all education makes someone smarter or wiser.

“More educated” =\= smart.
While this is true, denying a correlation between the two is also an error.
It’s like saying “tall” =/= basketball player.
