Yeah if the dude actually bit an officer’s finger off—case closed. Legally justified.

Disagree. An amputated finger is by definition a serious bodily injury and justifies lethal force in and of itself.

I've slowed this down.
In the huddle, one or more ICE officers shout 'GUN'. This caused another officer to draw his sidearm.
Another officer removed the man's sidearm, and then walked away, but it was discharged negligently (see for yourself).
The Sig P320 is notorious for NDing, but typically only when dropped.
That then triggered the other agents to think that the man on the ground, Alex Pretti, had begun shooting, so they neutralised the perceived threat.
If this is what happened, it's an incredibly unfortunate accident in Minneapolis.

Different incidents from what I understand.

Resisting an officer during arrest puts them in danger. Especially in a situation like this, where there could be others around you who also want to commit violence against you. The situation needs to be resolved quickly. Police officers have to commit 6 officers to deal with this one douche who should have never been there. You can go willingly, or you can take your chances. He decided to take his chances while being armed.
Not a single word of what you wrote is legally relevant.

And that's not really relevant or the standard to discuss.
It was earlier today in MN.
Are you suggesting LEO (ICE) has to know ALL of his weaponry before they can render him threat-less, i.e., no longer an imminent threat of death? How would that even be practicable IRL?
quote:
If they didn't know these existed, per your hypo, how could they perceive them to be an imminent threat of death?
Who is "them?" Weapons independent of the guy are no threat.
A better question would be 'how could LEO conclude that HE (an armed man who was physically interjecting himself into a lawful arrest effort) was no longer a threat?'

What crime did this guy commit?

Not all would permit deadly force. Some SBIs in the wrong factual scenario otherwise would not permit deadly force. The factual analysis is based on the totality of each individual scenario. it's not binary.
While that is generally true, in this specific case you have an actively resisting suspect who is armed and who ALSO (allegedly) is biting the finger of an officer so hard it is causing an amputation. There’s no way that fact pattern and totality of circumstance would not lead to a legally justified use of deadly force.

How does that question follow from my post?

Will be interesting to see if it was fired.
If so, it is probably the only round ever fired from that weapon.

I agree. But there’s been some light trolling (which is perfectly fine).
