Soooooooooooo much more than oil!
It's been discussed on here many, many times.....

how are we going to extract these resources without people getting killed?
Who are the people down there getting killed that aren't
A) There by their own choice.
B) Stopping the extraction?
I'll hang up and listen.

You’re right in that drugs are not the primary motive here. That’s window dressing for the social conservatives and they eat it up.
It’s oil, but it’s a bigger picture.
Trump wants to fundamentally remake and influence South America and having a significant foothold and conduit in venezuela is a big part of that objective. From what I’ve read, Rubio was a driving force in this foreign intervention policy.
It’s oil, but it’s also trade, business, investment, capital, government, migration, political influence and control, construction, property development and management, military, etc.
I think you are on target.
My main concerns are:
1 - US soldiers being put at risk to protect corporate interests. Their role is defense of our homeland, not protection services. Let the corporations hire private security.
2 - the burden on the US taxpayer. I'm fed up with having to support welfare cases, both abroad and at home. Give us a break. If we must occupy Venezuela on behalf of Big Oil, make Big Oil pay for the rebuild.

Confused
Don't we want a lot of them killed?

Yeah, even the Venezuelans who are happy Maduro is out are going to want to have a word about whose oil it is.
Exactly. Iraqis and Afghanis celebrated us as heroes until they realized we were their new overlords. We all know what happened after that.
I don't think Venezuela will be Afghanistan 2.0, but in the famous words of Ron Paul: "Beware of the blowback."

Some of the dirtiest oil in the world and requires lots of refining.

They have a shite ton of natural gas though.

Just so we’re clear, America and England actually built Venezuela’s oil infrastructure.
They wouldn’t have oil without us.
So yes, it was actually ours. Hugo Chavez had no right to seize American assets without our permission.
Moreover, the socialist government did such a terrible job of maintaining it that oil production plummeted and the promised prosperity for the Venezuelan people never materialized.
Venezuelan citizens were actually much better off when American companies were “colonizing” them.
Taking back what’s ours is of mutual benefit to both the American and Venezuelan people. This whole “it’s the oil” talking point is so stupid.
I don’t think oil was the only reason, but even if it was, it’s not the own you think it is.
Americans get cheaper gas and more resources. Venezuelans get jobs and economic prosperity. There are literally no losers besides stupid communists.

So we know that it's not about drugs.
Of course you get downvotes. The drug boats were misdirection. The goal was a stable source of oil for the next half century. We really ought to make them a state.

Election Rigging
Underneath all this drug trafficking on the surface is the covert election interference activities…… Smartmatic, Dominion, Sequia.
Venezuela, Cuba (and previously Syria) are the origination points for election fraud. Not just for the US ….. for over 160 countries that use those systems.
Remember, there’s a significant difference between Ballots and Votes …. and he who counts the Votes controls the outcome.

Any self important, think they are respectable journalists reported on this? That Nick guy needs to take over the story and get it reported.

It’s about national security, the Monroe Doctrine and giving the Venezuelan people some hope.

Trump just said we're going to be sending in all of our oil companies to take back the oil that belongs to us.
So now that that is out of the way, how much security do you think will be required on a day-to-day basis to allow these oil companies to extract and refine the oil?
Multiple cartel(s) are heavily involved in the area. You have former government supporters, gangs, etc.
I'm assuming that most of the security will be handled by a heavy amount of private military organizations.
1. Private security isnt equipped to provide this type of security.
2. I would invite you to do some actual critical thinking and ask yourself if you truly feel enlightened, or more intelligent than others when you make "meh, oil" "imperialism " statements. Thats about as sheepish as it gets.
3. There is a war going on. Its been going on. Americans should be happy that there is a old billionaire thats made whats left of his lifes goal to claim some ground back from global corrupt entities.
This country was 10 years away from legally lynching white heterosexual masculine males that showed signs of emotional stability (not easily manipulated(... which make up most of its combat arms, leadership and special operations... and thats not to take credit away from "good guys" that belong to different demographics...

When we were drilling and producing their oil, they were one of the richest nations on earth.
Chavez stole American companies assets and run their oilfield into the ground.
