why it is so expensive

Because it takes a lot of money for the Pharmaceutical Cartels to keep the politicians in their pockets. Plus the CEO’s have to keep up with a high lifestyle. It’s not cheap, and with the high inflation, just makes it that much harder to fuel the jets and yachts.

But it is going to be an EO, so expect BoASSberg to rule it unconstitutional

Yep, this isn't going to survive contact with reality but I agree with it.

All I know is that Mama BFIV's oral cancer meds cost $22,000 for a three week supply

I just picked up my Ozempic pen last week at the pharmacy. Cash price was some where near 1,100 dollars. Luckily, my insurance covers it and I pay 25 dollars a pen.

If it saves trillions maybe we’ll see a reduction in Medicare taxes:

3. Medicare Tax: 1.45% of all wages, with an additional 0.9% for high earners (over $200,000 single, $250,000 married filing jointly).

Eh. This won’t work. It’s a good story though.

Some tilting of the market is in order. But we can’t get a month’s supply of amoxicillin for the same price as the dispensing fee at a US pharmacy. And that’s what it is in parts of the world.
Yeah, best case is probably it forces the issue to the fore where maybe something actual can be done.

Do the Democrats want to be known as the party who are against low drug prices, though? I mean, they're dumb, but that's one hell of a talking point because everyone deals with it.
Right now there is a group of Dem operatives gathered and working on talking points to disseminate that will attempt to portray this as bad. It does not matter how great the idea is, or how great it is for the American people, they just cannot allow Trump to have what they perceive as a victory.

Wanna know how to really bring costs down and simultaneously greatly reduce the influence of big pharma and also put a dagger in the heart of mainstream television media?

Do like almost all other civilized countries have already done, and ban big pharma from advertising on networks and publications.

What? You think it is weird to watch TV and have every commercial break feature a drug ad complete with theme songs and cartoon mascots?

Seriously, one of them has a fricking cartoon turtle family pimping their medication.

The ones that irritate the piss out of me to the point of being physically angry, are the completely choreographed musical commercials with hundreds of people dressed in vivid colors all dancing around in perfect unison and disgustingly happy and upbeat. If I end up in Hell, my punishment will be eternal existence in one of those commercials. It's like, "Bitch, you're 300 pounds relying on Wegovy to help you lose weight. WTF are you so giddy about?"

I'm so glad I don't have cable or network television any more.
