Wondering if they are going after Alibaba, Tencent, and other Chinese owned companies or Zuck and company just pissed they don't own TikTok.

No, they aren’t going after any other Chinese apps. Kind of suspicious.

I read something very insightful this morning. China chose to give up its entire US operation rather than suspend CCP control over the app. That’s bc it’s an intelligence operation and not a social media app

Trump will reinstate it because it’s disastrous to the economy to shut this down

Regulation is not a ban
Demanding that a company be sold or they will be legislated out of business is a hell of a regulation.
If the democrats had their way, they would regulate gun companies so they were only allowed to sell their products to the U.S. military and law enforcement. And they would regulate private ownership with a mandatory buy back for currently owned firearms. Private citizens would not be allowed to own any guns, just like Australia and New Zealand.
You would call that regulation. I would call it a ban

Yeah, its a banning if they dont agree to this draconian regulation. They dont have much of a choice, seems pretty shady.
I hate Tik Tok with a passion, but banning it will just move players around, not keep them out of the game.

Because it just happened to be 90 days ended with no buyer

That is how most regulation and every single divestiture ever ordered works.
You think China should determine regulation foreign markets? Lead in toys, substandard consumer food protection, etc.?

My question is why the day before inauguration?

Demanding it be sold to do business is really harsh.

Some people want their vice without what comes with it and that's an impossible task.
Here it is. They all complain about the effects of China on the USA. The words communism/marxist fall from their face and fingers as evil. We have to turn away from Marxism in our schools, and life.. etc!!! But damn it to hell I AINT GIVING UP MY VICE!
When things get hacked. They blame the government instead of the hackers.

If there was an Internet "as we know it today" back in 1975, and there was an app called "Tik-Tokski" that was run by the Soviet Communist Party, would you want your teens on it? Would you trust it enough to install on your phone?
China knows there is no better way to keep us weak than by fanning divisive flames as well as censoring negative content against their own government and promoting content that weakens ours.
Tiktok really isn't needed. Yes there are a lot of people making money off it, but they will just pick up and go one of the similar variants.

Tik Tok is a threat to the U.S. government’s ability to control a social media platform.
If after the past 8 years you think it is truly about “national security” there is no need in debating it with you.

And I don’t believe you ever answered my earlier questions. Do you have tiktok on your phone? Have you ever used it?
Some of your comments lead me to believe you have not.

In any event, shoutout to the self proclaimed hero healthcare-workers who assisted in perpetuating the greatest fraud ever launched on mankind while they danced on TikTok.

The government is no more "banning a business" than it "banned" phone service when it ordered AT&T to divest from the "Baby Bells."
Completely different. There is no monopoly issue here. They are banning Tik Tok from doing business in the US, ergo they are banning a business.
I am not being critical of the decision. I’m just saying that is a weighty thing.

A senator came out and said in the last few days that it can be used as a huge propaganda tool, not that it was a security issue as they had been saying. In other words, the government cannot use it as their propaganda tool, like they have been using others for so many years.
