EU membership and economic integration with the west has always been Russia’s concern with post-USSR Ukraine. Their desire for eastern Ukraine is tied to that with the resources, industry, and port infrastructure on the Black Sea. NATO expansion is just the domestic scapegoat.
Again, this didn't start (in 2014) because of NATO
*ETA: the one thing I would add is that Ukraine surpassing Russia in terms of status/SOL/wealth is a literal existential problem for Russians and nationalistic types like Putin in particular.

If Putin keeps the land he has captured then NATO will continue to be discussed.
Western Europe and USA view Ukraine as having strategic importance. It’s not an argument, it’s just reflective of the support Ukraine has received already. But grain and oil exportation seem to be 2 of the primary reasons.
Article 5 is a deterrent against future attacks.

We should get out of NATO, then the Euros can do whatever they want. Let them pay for and build up their militaries to protect themselves. Our threats are not their threats anymore.

If Putin actually cared about nations joining NATO he wouldn’t have practically forced Finland into doing so.
The last time the Finnish fought against the Russians was with the Germans during WWII to take back Russian gains.
Putin cares about it but Finland is not worth fighting. Just a long wooded and mountainous border. Russia has St. Petersburg with a port just below Finland anyway. Also Russia has the Kaliningrad Oblast with full access to the Baltic Sea.

Allowing Ukraine into NATO within five years (or even less) would strengthen the alliance’s eastern flank, bolstering regional security against further Russian aggressions. Ukraine’s (now) battle-tested military and commitment to democratic reforms align with NATO’s values and operational goals. Rapid Integration would deter aggression, stabilize Europe, and reinforce NATO’s credibility in supporting other members
Why do we need nato at all much less eastern or western flank of it. Russia has been invaded 50 times in its history . It is worried about nato . We promise no nato encroachment … then we encroach . There is a neutral government in Ukraine and Victoria Nuland and the cia over throw it and install pro western puppets . Ukraine then goes to discriminating against ethnic Russians in the five areas of Ukraine . The ethnic Russians rise up … fighting breaks out … treaty ensues ( Minsk 1 ) where Ukraine promises it won’t do this again …. Then they do it again … another treaty ( Minsk 2 ) then they throw out the we want to join nato bullshite. Putin invades because to the Russians this will not be allowed . After the invasion Minsk 3 is offered but Zelenskyy is talked out of signing by Boris Johnson because the west wants this proxy war. The west thinks this will harm the Russians by destroying their military . If the west were to win in Ukraine and put troops on the Russian border ( Putin probably goes nuclear ) then we do …. So , let’s just get it on now . General Curtis “ bombs away “ Lamay thought we could win a nuclear war with 20 million dead. With weapons now maybe it’s 120 million dead. That’s a win . Let’s just poke the bear right up till he goes nuclear so that we can also and we can get this party started , right ?

Not enough Russian/North Korean manpower to accomplish this
I don't know where people view history but this statement does not seem correct given how Russia has fought previous wars
I wonder if this is what you would say if you were around in 1942-5

Russia has already suffered hundreds of thousands of casualties for about 20% of Ukraine in a war that was originally predicted to last a few weeks if not days. They aren't taking the whole country

St Petersburg/Kronstadt and the Kola Peninsula naval bases’ proximity to Finland is the perfect example of how he doesn’t care about NATO “encroaching” on Russia. He knows NATO isn’t an offensive threat.

Is Lake NATO, and exactly why the Black Sea access is even more important to him.

They have the firepower to just destroy the country
You and I both know why they have not

Yep. Let them keep the NATO aspiring nation status (whatever it’s called) that we slapped on Bosnia and Georgia and be done with it. None of those places will ever be part of NATO. Nor should they be.
