you are really stumped by this thats pretty sad. Dems have embraced and pushed mail in voting because they know their base is too lazy to stand in line. Republicans haven't.

These have similar value as skiball tickets at the arcade where 350,000 will get me a keychain.

The reality is that people will tolerate lots of things in the prospective political choices but being functionally retarded is last on the list.

Laughs in Biden and Fetterman and Sheila Jackson Lee... this list of "functionally" retarded dems could go on forever

The interesting question is why INDEPENDENTS seems to be more likely to give the benefit of the doubt to a Dem candidate (eg Fetterman) versus a GOP candidate (eg Walker).

There is no rational world where most independent gives the dem the vote with the way the country has been run the last two years. None.

When you start off as a 6%+ underdog, you have to run a much better candidate than the other side. If both run shitty candidates the dems will win.

It would be like Les Miles facing Alabama and running toss dive every other play and wondering why we lost to a Bama team with a stronger offensive and defensive line

For the walker runoff this was on the line

No it wasn't, if Walker won, the Senate would've been split 50-50 with Harris as the tiebreaker.

Democrats are more committed to winning than Republicans and it shows.

That would be a valid point if the raw numbers of republicans and democrats was equal. If that was the case, like a football game, it would come down to how committed each side is to getting out.

But that isn’t the underlying fact in America. The fact is that there are simply more democrats than republicans. Republican policies are not as popular. There are more people in America who prefer what the democrats offer. That’s why for about 20 years there are more democratic voters participating in national elections than republican voters.

The republicans know this. That’s why they endorse policies that make voting participation more difficult. The strategy is that if they can convince more people to not participate, republicans can win if they get their committed voters to the polls.

When more people vote, republicans lose.

Allll they have to do is snag a few % on social issues in Georgia. They know this.

“Herschel is a piece of shite” adverts had to be 10-1 over anything good Herschel.

They seriously thought a black man could get enough black votes to counter that. They were wrong.

The abortion and abuse issues alone carved out enough women to make the difference.

New data from a Gallup survey out Monday show Republicans, who began last year 9 points below Democrats, ended 2021 with a 5-point edge in terms of who voters lean toward. The survey looked specifically at voter party identification.

Tboy is wrong. Per usual.

I want to know why 200,000 people who voted Walker in the general thought it wasn't worth turning out this time.

This is all true but with a candidate that wins independent voters it can be overcame. Herschel was just an example of Republicans trying to shove a shitty candidate through. I still dont understand how they decided that was who they would push. I guess they figured "georgia dumb football state too" after tubberville worked in alabama

Because there was a whole slate of candidates to vote for in November that people could go and support. Yesterday was just Walker, and if you are only lukewarm at best in wanting him to win, you probably just did not go and invest your time to vote.

Whatever first term senator Georgia Rs would have sent to DC wasnt gonna have any power. Georgia just needed a candidate without a ton of baggage and a likeable personality.

Why did 80,000 more people vote in the run off than the general? (He lost by 90,000)

I actually suggested this was the case last night, and it's pretty easy.

These Republican voters didn't "show up.". Those 80K were early and mail-in votes. My guess is most of that 80K was mail-in.

Ballot, or more accurately vote, harvesters get the list of people who didn't vote in the general election. Use those names, fill out ballots, mail them in.

The GOP needs to do the same. When 300,000 votes show up in a county of 200,000 voters, then maybe things will change.

The rules of the game have changed and the old rules are being mocked. Take a page out of the Dem playbook and force the system to crash. Only then will order be restored.
