Let’s assume the Warsaw Pact prevailed and sought expansion into Mexico. I think we all might be a bit paranoid.
Consider that NATO has not only expanded east, they’ve developed a missile defense base in Poland and laughably tried to explain it was intended for an Iranian missile launch.
I would suggest some paranoia is justified.

So where is Ukraine's guarantee. Merely having a business deal with DC will not be enough to guarantee security for Ukraine. Any security guarantee has to have a hammer/ force component or else, it's a peice of paper

Russians are playing a game of semantics. Putin told Trump he would agree to security gurantees for Ukraine. There has to be a force made of of U.S. and European military. The Russians don't want them to be called NATO forces. They will be called Ukranian security forces. Problem solved.
