I'll raise you an n=8, because I've seen several customers cease offering products completely, 2 closings, and several others move all of their production overseas because of Trump's tariffs.

Hopefully you let them know this was just their contribution to owning the libs. Hopefully that can help them put food on the table.

Muh winning!

I mean... who the hell would enact tariffs on raw materials that exceed the tariffs on the finished goods.

I love that this thread has all the leftists/socialists and the never Trumpers all congregated in celebration.

In 6 years, what's LAWS have the Trump admin passed that has transformed America?

We have a lot of EOs and tweets, but what legislative laws will last past his tenure?

Where did I say that there was not an adjustment?

You can't adjust when your product is quite literally only made in one country and the tariff messaging was so all over the place that prices skyrocketed and left you behind.

But the over the top "the world is ending"

You need to understand that for those that were heavily impacted it did mean the world to them. Their livelihoods were impacted, their employees were impacted, their communities were impacted. It gets ugly. Now we come to officially find out that the pain that was endured never should've been. Good luck telling those people to just deal with it.

quote:

And you will have tariffs

Fantastic. I just want them enacted legally. I guess that is asking too much.

So again, what exactly do you do? You avoided answering that question.

All one has to do is run a search.

The tariffs from the first term lasted.

These will last too.

It's nothing other businesses have not been through. We are going to reverse the damage done over the past 5 decades. It would be wise to grasp that idea and plan accordingly.

That's not what happened. It's not it should not have happened. It's that it had to happen. Not " I just think it is a good idea" but we are talking USA debt and printing money. We are talking the collapse in many different ways.

It's not asking too much. But again even the die hard anti Trump people in this thread agree it was done with purpose.

You have to really be special if you think that the people in this admin did not grasp all of this. You are talking about some of the most successful people in real life. Not career politicians who never had a normal job.

When it was clear this path would fail, which should have been immediately, why didn't they reverse course?

Exactly. This was one of those cases (like most) where the justices could have justified their decision either way, depending upon their personal tastes. They chose globalism.

that money has been spent on the gimmedats by now so we will have to cough it up I'm sure.

gimmedat
Listen to pronunciation
Share definition
Short for "Give me that". A word used when a person, usually a minority, wants to get free stuff just because they're a minority or part of a special interest group. The gimmedats don't have to be from any government organization, they could also be from charities or even people they know personally. These people usually have no shame in asking for handouts and have no long-term goals except to get free stuff. Because of their own shortsightedness and refusal to make their own situations better, the gimmedats often do nothing except create a vicious cycle of reliance.

You screwed your whole argument when you invoked the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Yeah, you're right. I should have looked around at the first 3 small businesses I passed and extrapolated that out to all 36.2 million small businesses in America.

Everybody knows that's more accurate than data collected by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

quote:

We can not continue to run massive trade deficits.

Well you better come up with something other than tariffs to close them if that's the case. Because tariffs aren't. They're just shifting them around.

quote:

The U.S. trade deficit has remained historically high, showing a minimal 0.2% decrease in 2025 to $901.5 billion, almost unchanged from 2024 despite sweeping tariffs. While the overall deficit barely moved, the goods trade deficit actually reached a record high. Tariffs shifted imports from China to other countries like Vietnam and Mexico rather than reducing the overall trade deficit
. That's The Hill.

quote:

Between 1979 and 1983 alone, U.S. manufacturing lost nearly 3 million jobs. Where was your fake concern?

I was nine, so my concern was probably on a new baseball glove and getting my science project finished. And that concern was real, not fake.

You realize that the average factory job in the US pays around $17 an hour, right?

And we can't fill the $17 an hour job vacancies we already have.

So...what are 3 million (or 5 million or 20 million) more $17 an hour job vacancies that we won't be able to fill going to do for the US economy?

Probably so.

They are a leftist mechanism. That's why Biden left them in place.
