forcing people with allergies to be around them is 10x worse than denying someone service. if someone brings an animal to eat next to me im claiming allergies and getting my meal comped.

No one should have service dogs except for blind people. An emotional/mental excuse is not good enough, and yes it's being abused terribly. If you have emotional/mental problems so bad that you can't leave your house without your dog, then stay home or get mental help which is readily available.
As far as flights and heart attacks, stay home or drive. No normal person wants to fly with your stinking arse annoying dog so you'll feel comfortable. We don't care, frick you and your stupid dog

Haha fair enough.
I disagree with the fake service animal stuff. I truly believe they should have to show documentation and proof of training. I can't bring mine on planes regardless she's therapy not service.

I think it's best we just leave this one alone. I initially thought it would be best to limit it to just blind people, but there are legitimate service dogs for other disorders. One example that comes to mind is a dog that could detect when a kid was about to have a seizure and would help brace him during the seizure.

I would love to see a business put this on a sign.

I agree with you that they should ban blind people from restaurants.
They say you eat with your eyes first anyways so it is wasted on them.

But dogs work.
It's been proven.
We also have a 15,000 year history with dogs along our side everywhere we go.
I'd rather society has a dog than takes some fricking big Pharma brain scrambler.
I don't see the problem with dogs as a human and male...our genetics is associated with them.
Just because society suddenly said, you can't take this dog here or there - doesn't mean that they didn't used to be accepted everywhere as man's or clan or group's companion.
I don't think it's new rules to allow dogs, I think it's breaking down new rules that disallowed dogs in the first place in the 20th century.
People are so sensitive to animals now - it would be like complaining in 1860 someone rode their horse up to the Saloon and you smelled the horse and your allergies kicked in and you wanted the horse banned from being right outside.

Should the laws be changed or be made more strict?
Everyone with ADD will soon need a service dog. Would be tough to police that with crooked drug dealing doctors who toss out drugs like candy that would certify you as bipolar or purely weird to enable you to get a dog.
Tons of people take advantage though. I seeeeen it

Those animals are properly trained and certified.
They didn't just purchase a jacket on Amazon that says "Service Dog: Do Not Pet".
And by the way, for anyone on here who bought their service dog on Amazon, just because the vest says "Do Not Pet", that doesn't mean you aren't liable when your untrained mutt bites a child.

Seeing eye dogs are the only exception in public places.
There are service dogs that are used for people with diabetes. They will alert them if they detect if a diabetic episode is imminent.

Dogs/animals help and I agree. I just don't want to fly with one inches from me, I don't want to grocery shop with one, I don't want to eat in a restaurant with one. Most people don't, I don't think that's unreasonable at all

I hate to sit next to a fricking Parrot on a flight one time - literally on this girls lap.
I'd take a dog sitting by someone's feet on a flight any day over a bird.
(plus I think this issue is overblown. You rarely see dogs in restaurants even in anything goes cities like S.F. or Boulder.
And service dogs (real ones) are so well-trained. They don't pose any problem. They are more courteous than humans in crowded areas.

a service dog helps you stay calm and what may prevent a heart attack be allowed?
If I were susceptible to having a heart attack because of anxiety, dog or no dog, I don't think I would be travelling at 32,000 feet doing 500 miles per hour.

What is the big deal about dogs in restaurants? Dogs accompany their owners into restaurants all the time in France. Never an issue and they are always well behaved. Why are we so concerned about it in the U.S.?
That said, this therapy dog/animal crap is a bunch of hooey. I'm sure there are some valuable and effective therapy animals, but mostly we have a bunch of wimpy people who have never learned to handle their own problems.

France accepts Islamic terrorists as citizens as well, that doesn't mean it's acceptable in the US
