Wasn’t really trying to discuss.

Nobody here really is, are they? They're mostly just trying to posture and flex their conservative bona fides.

My all-time favorite threads on this board, however, usually start out with something like, "What are we supposed to think about...?"
quote:

So your entire purpose in this thread isn’t to voice support or opposition to removing the extra government protection Disney has enjoyed….it is simply to feebly attempt to call out “the ideologues” as hypocritical?

Fixed.

I thought I made it pretty clear that I'm just here for the yucks. Political discourse on this board is a joke, as HHM's thread from yesterday will attest.

Yet you whine about “the board” not being up for discussion.

Seems hypocritical. Can’t be, though…you are the brave one here to point out hypocrisy….

But that's what you want to make it about because you can't really address the fact that people here want to consider themselves conservative,

Conservatism isn’t a suicide pact.

When a corporation advocates against parental rights, they’re an enemy of society. Removing special preferences that such a corporation enjoys isn’t anti-conservative.

Conservativism is far more concerned with the family and the right of self-determination than it is in protecting a special governmental district in a random locale.

Yet ANOTHER "I'm above it all" attempt. Who are you trying to convince?

It’s almost the exact definition of an ideologue.

Definition of ideologue
1: an often blindly partisan advocate or adherent of a particular ideology
2: an impractical idealist : THEORIST

Also:
an adherent of an ideology, especially one who is uncompromising and dogmatic.

It would be funnier if it wasn't so tragic and emblematic of the political problems we face today.

Why are you constantly whining about my posts?

Thanks, but it doesn't take courage as much as just a razor wit.

You really think the problems we face today as a nation are rooted in issues with "discourse"?

That actually seems quite peripheral to me.

You don't even realize that YOU'RE the one placing my posts above it all, not I.

Luckily, I don't really have to convince anyone, you already think my position is one that is above it all - with good reason.

It's really funny when the ideologues accuse the moderates of being above it all without even realizing that they are, in fact, acknowledging that being an ideologue is less than ideal in the realm of political discourse.

Y’all know it’s ok to acknowledge that something like this has the serious potential to affect that huge company’s bottom line in a substantial way. Y’all already acknowledge the hit to the stock. Clearly that affects the company significantly. It’s just common sense that if their bottom line is significantly down then of course they cannot sustain the level of employment and associated perks and benefits experienced in the best of times, financially speaking. Which has probably been a very long run of exactly that, until now. I’m sure those are/were great jobs throughout, but cuts will obviously directly affect citizens of Florida, which is the employee pool. And they inject a great deal of money back into Florida’s economy by a litany of ways. Unless they become unemployed or even underemployed. Desantis has thought of this himself, not a single doubt about it.

It’s amazing how everyone is carrying Disney’s water all of a sudden. It’s just a company. They treat their employees like crap just like everybody else. I know; I have family members who work there. Disney World theme park >>> lame HQ office If the execs want to move HQ, it’s because of the income tax. Not woke politics. Taking Reedy Creek away is a good thing. Don’t let the media brainwash you.

So you're saying there's probably some incentive for Disney to "come to the table" on some of this stuff?

You've become so cringe... flailing about in these threads trying to convince yourself you are still "right". Shapeshifting from troll to apolitical arbiter of truth to screeching sky-screamer with each page. Being whomever you need to based on the poster you're replying to, and doing so as if we are all not here reading along.

Its like reading Sybil on LSD.

As a 32 year resident of Florida I would like to cordially invite you to go frick yourself. Stick to your shithole in Austin and let Florida work it’s own issues out.

I do. I think we just keep talking past each other about what we feel are important matters.

Without political discourse we have no politics, just acrimony. In that sense it's fundamental.
