Vladimir Putin's wife gives birth during a UN meeting in New York. Little Vlad is an American.

Mexican chick gets caught at the border and thrown in a holding cell, where she pops out a little juan. He is an American.

Chinese chick gives birth in LAX on a layover. Boom, American.

These are all bullshite scenarios that should not be legal.

Just the fact that birthing tourism is a thing should enrage people. Anchor babies are an abomination.

To categorically grant citizenship on birth alone should be revised. I'm sure there are some specific circumstances that being born here should entitle one to citizenship and those should be carved out, and retained. But generally, birth alone should not automatically grant citizenship.

Not entirely. In Britain, children born to foreigners who legally reside there are British citizens.

I'm no Constitutional scholar, nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn last night, but this phrase has always been the sticking point. Are people here illegally really "subject to the jurisdiction thereof"?

Yeah that's a big difference from what you said against Juan and Juanita crashing a boat from Cuba to Puerto Rico, giving birth to Juan Jr and Juan Jr getting citizenship. The parents aren't here legally.

I believe that if a person who is here illegally has a baby in the US that baby shouldn't be a citizen. It should be a citizen of whatever country it's parents are a citizen of

It's close to a sure loss.

The Citizenship Clause played an extremely important role after the Civil War but, as someone already mention, that reason is now moot. It's probably best to get rid of it but it will take another amendment.

It was brought about to give slaves citizenship in the U.S. after the civil war..and it was the right thing to do, but we really need to abolish the amendment cause our friends to the south are really abusing it.
