Translation to reality; Jobs and wages are cooked numbers and nowhere near keep up with the rise in COL due to inflation. Basically, we're happy as long as the numbers on a chart look good, even if that means real people in the real world are having to make due with a less valuable dollar to purchase the essentials.

That's so intellectually dishonest by Krugman, idek where to begin. Sure Paul, just keep hacking off all of the pieces of the inflation data pie until the numbers say what you want them to.

We already had one recession under his leadership. Are they hoping for another one?

It’s a good thing nobody needs food, energy, shelter, or transportation.
Another point missed is that the Biden's "job growth" is all part time jobs + a few government jobs. Full time jobs are a net loss. So, people are working multiple jobs to pay for inflation.

If inflation outstrips wage growth......who doesn't understand economics?

I am no economist, but both inflation and fuel cost have huge impacts on us. Increased fuel cost are passed onto consumers. Most everything is shipped, flown, or driven to the market place. Your "great" wages buy less and less due to inflation. Smh... Inflation and gas prices are pretty damn good things to be "stuck on".

Mr. Joe Sixpack doesn't care about GDP or monthly job numbers. What they care about is inflation and gas prices. Every day on their way into work they see the gas prices creeping up. Every weekend when they go to the store they see how they are spending more and getting less. The average American doesn't understand the big economic picture. What they understand is what they have in their pockets and bank accounts every two weeks.

The media and politicians are going to try to convince the middle class they are thriving in this economy.

This coming from the same group that constantly cry about pay?
The Dow was at 35,6XX on August 1. It has fallen to 32,9XX today. Nasdaq was 14,3XX on August 1. It has free fallen to 12,7XX today. Sinking far into correction territory. Treasury yields are rising as investors flee to safe havens.
Earnings not looking that great…energy still high… inflation marching on.. buying power suppressed.. war… printing more money to hand to other countries…
Yea. Everything is freaking rosy.

In what fricking alternate universe do these people exist?
Sitting in their mom's basement, staring at a computer screen typing away with no job, no future and a patchy neck beard below their sides-shaved blue-dyed hair, talking about wages being great.
If these people lived in the real world and were actually trying to scrape out a living wage like the rest of us, they wouldn't have the time or energy to be posting in echo chambers about how great their Establishment gods are.

You mean the "Nobel Prize" winning economist that doesn't know a single fricking thing about real world economics?
I can.

Partially correct.
Insurance portion will continue to go up and the property tax portion as well.
