This is the kind of knee jerk response that this board is chock full of, rather than counter with a good explanation of why taxing real property is a bad thing for the public.
What part of the infrastructure is a group dedicated to the betterment of the lives of the deaf using that necessitates a tax?
You’re just slinging ideological poo against the wall.

You can’t tax the church because of Separation of Church & State

Let's go the other way: terminate federal government "charity" and gives tax credits (not deductions) for money donated to churches.

Only that churches benefit unfairly at the expense of everyone by reaping the benefits of the infrastructure that taxes support without supporting the infrastructure itself.
So do schools.
What taxes do schools pay?
No matter what place I choose to live, I am paying for a school that I don’t use since my children are adults.

The church of prosperity gospel that the Osteens and Jesse Duplantis practice and preach are more aligned with “for profit” motives and should be taxed imo.

Make the churches file a 990. Like any other non-profit... as long as they are spending their money on charitable causes, they will be fine.
Honestly, my concern is more with the property tax exemptions for mansions owned by religious groups, than income tax issues.

Support not taxing churches.
Until the government gets their shite together, anyone wanting tax increases is a fricking retard.

For real. Every church I know operates in the red.
Maybe start taxing all not for profits, too. Planned Parenthood comes to mind.
This. Only pay taxes on the gain or net income. Trust me, most churches and the like won’t show a dime of profits to tax. But you will piss off a block of Demo voters so please tax them ASAP.

Just ONE of the Mormon Church's funds (Ensign Peak) has a value of well over 100 BILLION. They can run their church for a year just from the interest they earn from that fund. And yet, their "prophet" demands that poor Mormons in Kenya pay their 10% tithing. What happened to helping the poor? Isn't that what churches are supposed to do?
ETA - They do pay taxes on these investments, but not on the billions they rake in from tithing.

My church runs about 60-70 people with a bunch of old heads. The pastor has to be paid. We try to give faithfully because we know the money is needed (and obedience).
Taxing them is just ridiculous. Our church barely makes ends meet as is.

You take a church like Second Baptist on Houston with land and buildings worth over a hundred million, or like Lakewood Church, where they are in a cathedral on prime real estate, running huge multi-million dollar operations, TV studios, bowling alleys, luxury everything, and then you have these little small churches representing the small communities. Where do draw the line and say, you are no longer a church but a business?
