The OP is wrong. Meuller is setting up a shadow deep state government and ran into a snag. I'm not going to tell you what it is because that would identify my source. All I'm going to say is that the key information was in Cohen's files somewhere. They were desperate and needed to make this move before Cohen caught on and destroyed the information.

They raided Cohen to get a lookie look at what goes on inside of Trump World.....they could not care less about Cohen paying of Daniels.....it's a message pure and simple.....and yes Federal Courts do this type of thing and USA's do manufacture probable cause all of the time ....see the Raymond Donovan case

I see that reading comprehension is not one of your premier skills.....it does not matter if it is a violation or not, Trump should just say that and stay quiet otherwise.

I seriously doubt it was just over the one payment. A no knock raid of multiple locations over a FEC violation? Doubtful. There had to be something else involved. And the judge had to be convinced that a subpoena would not work.

If all he's referring to the USA at SDNY is for payoffs to broads as FEC violations , I don't get the force and in the end the fact that it's going through the SDNY it's not Russian "collusion".
But, here's the thing, if Cohen was operating as the attorney for the Trump Organization and he was not part of the campaign and did not give any money to the Trump campaign then 1) you can't get Trump for knowingly skirting FEC regs and 2) I'm not sure that you can find anything felonious in Cohen's actions...sleazy maybe, but not felonious .
Another question, Mueller had no problem bringing up charges on Manafort and Gates for activities or charges unrelated to the campaign, so why does he refer something like this to the USA in New York? Could not the tax charges on Manafort be handled by the USA in whatever district he lives in? I think Rosenstein has some 'splainin to do in all of this

That's what I'm thinking, too.
I also suspect that Mueller is not turning up any clear criminal wrongdoing by Trump, so Mueller's going to be as outrageous and invasive as he can be in order to goad Trump into firing Mueller.
I do believe that if Mueller is allowed unlimited time, unlimited scope, and unlimited money and resources, he will investigate Trump's ENTIRE professional life until he finds some wrongdoing. Mueller is prepared to raid Ivanka's bedroom, Kushner's sock drawer . . . ANY lengths to goad Trump into firing the SC.
