Protect liberties. Accept that people will say things you don’t like to hear.

Our First Amendment is one of the single greatest pieces of legislation in world history. But it is going to be the cause of the downfall of this nation.

We’re a Christian nation but we allow people in our nation who would cut our throats as soon as look at us in our coasts in their thousands and their millions. Not only that, we pay for them to be here.

We’re a republic form of government but we allow people to preach communism in our schools and street corners.

Our liberties are constantly used against us. And wtf can we do about it?

So, what is your solution? Censorship? Thought control? Take a look at what’s happening in the UK. People are being thrown in jail for their thoughts, for memes that hurt the feelings of others.

The First Amendment is the only thing keeping us from that fate; well that AND the Second Amendment.

Your point about allowing people into our nation who would slit our throats is interesting. In school, I learned that we are a melting pot. Immigrants came here, assimilated into our culture, and became Americans. They didn’t keep their language, their flags. They came here looking for a better future and were happy that we took them in. Now? Unfettered immigration under different Presidents and illegal immigrations have changed that. They want to keep their old ways while taking advantage of the systems here. It is a problem, especially when you look at what the Muslims intend for our country. How can you solve it? I don’t have a great answer- maybe deport everyone who is not an American citizen and start over? Not really feasible, though.

I do agree with what you wrote about our liberties being used against us. I have expressed that myself. We set up systems to help people in need. Evil people who want to destroy our way of life have found ways to exploit these systems. A recent example is the illegals who were put up in 5 star hotels and given refillable debit cards while some vets and children are homeless. Using the system, large numbers of people were brought here illegally, given more benefits than citizens, placed strategically around the country. The evil people now can get more representation in Congress and built in votes. But, our citizens also exploit these liberties to get money for not working. Time limits on some benefits could help with this.

Freedom of religion could though. For both legal and illegal. Imagine the shitstorm if Trump said “ok, we’re no longer allowing Muslims to come to this country because their religion is a blight amongst liberty loving individuals.” Or if he also said “Muslims are no longer allowed to be here, they must go back to Muslim lands. Their religion is dangerous to this country.”

He would be 100% correct to do so, Muslims shouldn’t be here. Them and Christians cannot peacefully coexist. Mainly due to Muslims being a bloodthirsty, child raping, stupid bunch of people. But our first amendment would block him from such actions due to religious grounds, would it not?

If a person is born and raised here and happens to be Muslim, they are as American as you are under Constitutional law. He couldn't force them to move to an Islamic country.

Believe it or not, there have been Muslims being born and living in the US since the Constitution was ratified, albeit, not in great numbers.

Pure freedom is anarchy.

Anarchy is not Chaos. It's merely the absence of law. The pioneers who moved west were in a state of anarchy. No sheriff, no courts, no jails, no laws. Crime was not rampant. Western movies portrayed it as wild with gunfire but no one would buy tickets to watch 2 hours of people working their farms and living in peace.

You are partially correct. The problem is we allow too much freedom to outsiders. Non US citizens should not have the same rights as citizens. Non citizens should have a limited freedom of speech, freedom of assembly ( as in protesting ). Non citizens should not be allowed to speak out or protest the USA on USA soil.

I know we currently find ourselves in a news cycle showing rampant fraud and lawlessness perpetrated by groups of recent immigrants, but what happens in your scenario if immigrants are actually being mistreated? Do they not get to call attention to their plight? Does it seem likely that their lack of ability to voice concerns results in intentional mistreatment by wildly immoral people who just so happened being born on U.S. soil?

This a great example of why we’re in the position we’re in. Our population is trained to consider only the most simplistic first-order effects of ideas. Not only are most people weak in defending good ideas, they also lack the second-order thinking skills to properly evaluate ideas. We are left with a large segment of our population that are not able to discern a good idea from a bad one. And when they do happen upon a good idea they are either unable or unwilling to vigorously defend it.

I thought I made it pretty clear that I want my views enforced without regard to how the left votes about it. 330 million people can't govern themselves democratically. We're in a cold civil war and people are LARPing about some fictitious ideal of collective decision-making.

No, what you want is a government that dictates and takes away peoples freedom of choice.

How you want that government to act doesn't matter, you don't get that choice because you do not want or have the freedom of choice.

As usual the stupid fricks who hate freedom do so because they fear what other people may do with theirs.

So as I said, you consent to whatever the government decides for you. And that's going to be globohomo.

Times change, popularity changes, sometimes your preferred candidate wins the election, and sometimes not.

The great thing about our rule of law and the US Constitution is that the people who didn’t support the person in power don’t have to fear that their rights will be violated.

So even if your candidate didn’t win the election, your rights are still protected.

Carry this thought out. Law enforcement sees a group of people peacefully protesting. But in order to do so, everyone must be detained and show their papers to ensure no one is a non citizen. Poof. Now even citizens can’t peacefully protest.

If you are peacefully protesting, there is no reason for law enforcement to even pay any attention to you so that is a non issue. I don't about you or anyone else but I am not ok with any foreigner here protesting against our nation.

Sounds kinda like slavery there, bud. Is that part of your family's heritage?

Nope, my family didn't come to the USA until 1903, so they had nothing to do with that. I am a proud white man with zero guilt. If you think that sounds like slavery you maybe need to look up the definition of what slavery is because me saying non citizens should not have the same rights as citizens is far from it.

Who got them in those positions to do anything in the first place, bud?

Ever read Bonhoeffer's letter on stupidity? Check it out.
