I don't know. He has done other things that I believe were mistakes and some of those bit him in the a$$ and some did not. No one comes to me for advice so I give it away freely.

The only reason to not release it is to use it for blackmail fuel.

This is true, however, the American people are screaming for transparency...just seems like the perfect time to go scorched earth on these mf's.

Thanks for proving my point.

And you posted…

What amazes me is you can never get democrats to team up with Republicans for shite

This emphatically rebuts your point and proves it irredeemably wrong.

False, Democrats fell in line like they always do.

Thanks for proving my point

not to take sides in this argument, but it is worth noting (for both) that both of those Senators chose to retire before their next election immediately following that vote on BBB.

One might guess one of two things:
1. DNC told them to GTFO
2. They didn't need to be told, they knew what was coming up to and including getting investigated.

I demand to see all the names on the Slush Fund list. For some reason this pisses me off more than anything else!!!!!

Are you insinuating that because he resigned from his position, that in itself, is an admission of guilt?

The whole thing is weird. Since DOJ backed down, I just don’t understand why he stepped down from a lifetime congressional position so quickly. Did he have to do that right away for the AG spot? I don’t buy that he wanted to work for OAN.

Now that the precedent has been set, release of all Congressional slush fund details should be a top legislative priority.

What can we, the citizens, do to force this information to be released? Calling our Congressman clearly isn't the answer. A petition wouldn't work. We deserve to know this information.

Coupled with the evidence in that report and his mea culpa of prior behavior, yes. It doesn't have to be something illegal, just something politically damaging.

The idea that he resigned because he was mentioned for the AG position is ludicrous. Jeff Sessions didn't resign until he was confirmed, holding on to his seat until Feb 8 and becoming AG on Feb 9.

Yeah, the whole situation is very odd and doesn’t make much sense. It’s definitely a political smear job, but resigning the position doesn’t make sense at all.

I'm pro-Gaetz and pro-Trump, but I think offering Gaetz the AG position was an excuse for Gaetz to resign before the report could be released. Easier to argue that the report shouldn't be released because Gaetz wasn't a member of the House.

Real question: did Team Trump ever expect Gaetz to be AG?

In theory, we could petition Congress, but I think the better hope is to get a national appeal to Rep. Massie file a bill.

It can be a political smear job, which I agree it is, and still have some truth in there that he wishes had stayed private. If you accept that, his resigning makes perfect sense. It didn't work but it was worth a shot.

People who say because it's a political smear job then 100% of it is lies are grasping at straws to make sense of his resignation, but if you read the report and accept the obvious then it makes perfect sense.

No they didn't. The bill failed for lack of two Democrats.

The Republicans knew he is/was a sleezebag and allowed him to step down from his position ... on the pretense of being appointed AG, knowing that wouldn't happen ...and thus avoid prosecution for his crimes years ago. Believe this or not, I don't care, but I'm a conservative and know from a very good source what the truth is. People who excuse him or elevate him to some godlike figure need to wake up!!!
