Foo: You don't know what you're talking about. You have no real understanding at all about what the apostles and early church taught.

None.

Given the fact that the pope and vatican are actively selling out the religion to those who hate it, how can anyone still defend it?

That’s easy. It’s because the pope is not the faith. Christ himself formed the Catholic Church and her followers try our best to follow Christ’s teachings. We also recognize that there exists folly of man. It is through this folly of man that we now have thousands of denominations of Christ’s only church and that we spend so much time arguing over our differences instead of celebrating the things we share.
It is through the folly of man that corrupt leaders corrupted the Church. It is through that same folly of man that people left the Church to form new faiths instead of fighting to fix it. It is through that folly of man that people today believe that the sacraments are a checklist and that Catholics are practicing idolatry.
Truth is that our world is broken due to mans folly. God knows this and chooses to use our brokenness to encounter us and seeks to lift our hearts above this world.
Catholic? He’ll meet you there
Protestant? He’ll meet you there
Agnostic? Yup there
Atheist? He’s waiting
Satanist? He’s still there still waiting to expose your heart to true joy

I agree. They preach a gospel contrary to that of scripture, wherein man relies on himself in addition to Christ to be saved, and no one that preaches a gospel contrary to the one that the Apostles preached (faith alone in Christ alone) is doing anything but damning those who understand it and believe it. That is the epitome of evil.

Agree, God's Word is INFALLIBLE, and they bend and twist it like Dem's do the Constitution. The Vatican is a cess pool of evil and Satan is as at home there as God Himself.

The Protestant sects are the ones promoting the Gay Transgender Agenda, folks. The Catholic Church's Catechism remains very clear about the sin of homosexual sexual activity.

Stupid strawman question.

There isn't a church out there that worships Martin Luther.

Protestant churches worship God and Jesus. They have differing views on how to do that.

Martin Luther had issues with the church of his time selling forgiveness and spending lavishly on temples and decorations, among other things.

No church is perfect, as they are run by men.

It certainly wasn't Sola Scriptura.

This should tell you everything you need to know about the legitimacy of Protestantism and the failure of Sola Scriptura.

Which had nothing whatsoever to do with doctrine/dogma. The selling of indulgences was an abuse not endorsed by the Catholic Church. Luther was correct that the Church needed to reform itself and most of his grievances were solved at the Council of Trent later on in the 16th century. However, Luther didn't reform anything; he caused a revolution which led to the deaths of millions of Europeans over the next century and a half.

Exactly.

Foo and the Prots say that Sola Scriptura was what the early church taught EVEN BEFORE any of the New Testament was ever written down.

Let that sink in: the Prots teach that "Bible Alone" was a key tenet of Christianity EVEN BEFORE one word of the New Testament was written down.

To be a Protestant is to ignore history.

Martin Luther became the only choice to get to and ILLUSTRATE that redemption and truth... Blindness is intentional, a choice, same as the conjuring..

Luther’s blindless was fostered by his animosity toward another faith and led him to pick and chose in order to “illustrate” his brand of truth.

He chose to ignore passages that didn’t feed his animosity.

I went to the Vatican years ago. All I could remember thinking was, "You know, for a faith that talks about charity and selflessness and denounces worldly possessions, they sure have a lot of nice shite." Gold everywhere. For clergy who agree to a life of poverty and charity, they sure live in a pretty swanky place. About a contrary as it gets.

Even if they had wanted to they couldn't have abided by this doctrine considering the vast majority of the world was illiterate until the relatively recent past. Bibles were also very rare to come by as the printing press wasn't invented until the 15th century. If you wanted a copy of the Bible, you had to commission someone to make one for you - which meant hiring a scribe to copy the Bible by hand. That cost a fortune in those days and only the Church/super wealthy could afford to commission one.

I see the Protestant television preachers teaching the Prosperity Gospel as they ask for more money so that they can fly around on fast jet planes to bring the Word of Faith to the world.

I then ponder the Bible message of poverty and humility and my mind tells me that the Protestant preacher is on the wrong path.

Ah. The near-weekly “Bash on Catholicism Without Understanding Anything About Catholicism” thread.

Look, I completely understand that people have different beliefs. But you can’t really disagree with a thing you don’t understand, and none of you Catholic haters appear to understand anything about the Church.

When you want to argue against something, you do yourself a disservice if you don’t argue against the best arguments for it. As far as I can tell no one on this board who hates the church could ever come close to articulating the best arguments for the Catholic Church being the true church. You all come across as completely oblivious that you’re attacking a straw man.

It is amusing when Johnny-come-lately religions think they have somehow been chosen to interpret the Bible for the rest of us.
I'm not sure if you heard of a little movement called the Protestant Reformation, but one of the key words was "reformation", in which the reformers were attempting to remove the man-made error from Catholicism to get back to what the scriptures taught, since even Catholics will acknowledge that the scriptures are God's Word (though they disagree on which books it consists of).

It's not a new religion. It's the Christian religion which was founded on Jesus Christ and the Apostles.
