Correct. But the OP is battling the chicken littles that think every time a cruise missile is launched that we’re fighting in Vietnam again.

And the flip side to that coin is a regime change operation against Iran — a nation with roughly twice the population of Iraq — will probably be a bit more complicated than lobbing a tomahawk missile at some Yemeni goat herder hiding in a tent in the Arabian Desert.

As noted elsewhere here, no U.S. President has declared war since 1941

Presidents don’t declare war, Congress does.

I’m sure you will just move the goal posts when you are proven wrong again.

Good thing we didn’t aim missiles at goat herders, eh. Looks like Iran’s top dog is the one who got dunked on.

Regime Decapitation doesn’t necessarily mean peace. The question now is, what fills the vacuum?

I indeed am old enough to remember when we were promised that Iraq would see a swift transition to democracy and stability after Saddam was ousted. The main problem here is many of the very cheerleaders for that disaster are the same ones promoting this latest regime change operation.

Iraq is a federal parliamentary representative democratic republic based on its 2005 constitution, with a president as head of state and a prime minister as head of government. The system includes a unicameral legislature (Council of Representatives) and operates as a multi-party system, with a significant autonomous region in Iraqi Kurdistan.

And now it might have a chance to stabilize without crazy neighbors like ISIS and Iran.

7000 miles away vs the range of ballistic missiles? And the U.S. has many many military bases, warships, and thousands of U.S. military personnel wayyyy inside that 7000 miles range.

We are not going to put troops on the ground to stamp out an insurgency. The Iranian people will decide their future. We will just bomb the crap out of the IRGC if they try and get in the way of the Iranian people deciding.
