It’s worked damn well for me. But it’s does require a bit of intelligence mixed in. I guess that may be your problem.
No amount of hard work will make you Jeff Bezos my dude.
You don't become an almost trillionaire through "muh hard work".
I do well for myself and have zero wants or complaints in life; I'm also not delusional like most of this board who thinks "muh hard work" will make them CEO one day.

How do you define that? No country can mirror another really. And I am not saying things should be exactly identical.
Ok.. the economic policy, taxation policy, and immigration policy. Three things that affect low skill wages.
Should we mirror their way to get wages up? Easy pleasy question.

believe the Dems are hell bent on keeping this thing extended as long as they can because they can force companies to pay higher wages to get labor back. They are effectively increasing minimum wage since they can't do it through legislation.
I was told that a local employer, who used to pay a position $9-$10/hour is paying $1000 sign on bonuses and $14-$15/hour just so they can get employees.
The Dim central planners are going to force inflation rates into double digit increases in an attempt to inflate their way out of a debt spiral......it won't work, it's never worked.

Did someone install Bezos into his position? How did it happen?
Gates? Musk? How did it happen.
Not everyone can make billions... but you can make six figures a year with smarts, a dash of risk, and work.
Then you can pay your janitor 20 bucks an hour.

And most of the US workers making $9.45 per hour pay no federal tax at all.
AND get “”””earned”””” income tax credit. Effectively raising their income above that.

Maybe if these employers want to keep their employees they should learn how to compete and be flexible to market factors. Pay employees fair wages and that will "incentivize" them to work and POOF no labor shortage. Do you think people want to work the fryer or be a line cook at a restaurant because of their love of work? They need to eat and have a roof over their heads. IF you want to call it "laziness" when someone decides it makes more sense to stay home and get paid than work some menial, demeaning service job, then so be it. It's not that simple.
You read posts like this (and there are a few in this thread) and it becomes painfully obvious that one of the major problems we face is hoards of woefully ignorant people. Whether ignorant by lack of intelligence, lack of (real) education or lack of experience, they believe and express things that are so baffling that it can't just be a difference in political leanings.

A lot of people inherently want to see themselves as the boss/CEO, so they instinctually side with the corporations rather than the lowly employees (even though they are closer to the latter than the former). The same ones simp for billionaires as well.
Do those people get to tell you what you think and why?

No it doesn't. It shows that I have a deep understanding of the fundamental flaws of a pure free market. And the responses show how much people hate to see a shift in power from corporations to the middle and working class of people which make up the vast majority of our populace.
Which is exactly why I said you also don't understand freedom in general. Government subsidized layabouts strip business owners of freedom, and conversely strip themselves of oppurtunity for betterment. And it comes at the expense of the productive whose wages are taxed to pay the layabouts and whose purchasing power is eroded.
quote:
Of course they can compete with that. It's super fricking simple, actually. Pay them better than the equivalent of starvation wages and they won't need to stay home and collect government assistance. Boom, corporations win and their employees win. We can all go home now.
You realize these things don't exist in a vacuum? If the wages of the lowest skilled are raised artificially via bull shite like minimum wages or massive subsidies to not work prices rise. People with skills become more valuable and can command more, and the unskilled worker is left right where they started. Are you so focused on absurd nonsense that you fail to see prosperity does not come from government mandate?

You have to feel for the libtards..
“Hey!! Look!!! They pay their employees soo much more!!”
Sane people: “well yea. But to do that we have to _____ and ______ as well as _____. Oh yea and the tax rates there are _____.

That's because it isn't a difference in political leanings. Most of these folks aren't capitalists. They aren't interested in equality of opportunity, they want equality of outcome. The guy who swept floors, slept in his car, didn't have a phone, and ate beanie weenies for 4 years to get a college education and start his own business is nothing but a greedy capitalist, who has no right to make any more than the guy he pays to clean the toilets. They believe it is the governments job to bring about this equality of outcome.
They don't give two shits if they destroy this guy's small business, as long as the government keeps those checks coming.

The labor market is a 2 way street
Employers low ball the shite out of their employees when the market is tighter
Don't give a frick if they're "over paying" now

They? How about you? Prices on everything increases with labor costs, Skippy. I have to wonder how many of you folks that are so concerned about the wages of entry level workers, ever just gave money to the guy cleaning the toilets, or the girl taking your order. I bet very few have.

If I could get paid to kick ornery roosters, I would consider myself to be a huge success.

You fail to see that the inflation caused by the money printing to pay for this will have these same minimum wage employees still living paycheck to paycheck?

Not this time! The, same people who have never worked a day in their lives, have this shite all figured out!

If you think this is a good argument you are even more retarded than I thought.
You are mad at the actions individuals are taking against a systemic problem and your galaxy brained solution to the problem is to tell individuals to tip the janitor at their offices?
You guys have lost the plot and are beyond help. But keep simping, you might get a little more than a COLA raise this year.

With all this “frick yeah, stick it to the man” stuff I sincerely hope these are young dumb 20-somethings. If these are working adults our country is screwed.
