lol
Not quite
I’ve owned bitcoin and ancilliary (coinbase, and a etf) for @7 years now.
As I posted, I have fomo as bad as anyone. I’m just willing to be honest about why I own it.

In a world of AI and blockchains and data centers, what do you think is the difference in something of value being exchanged for something else of value using a medium that up to now has represented money? How is this any different, other than instant speed, from selling a property, then using the money to buy something else?
There is no difference. It's just the property is bitcoin and that breaks people's ignorant brains. Won't change things. Bitcoin is inevitable. Unfortunately so is luddite ignorance.

Exactly.
A guy once said to me that bitcoin is too slow. He didn't realize that the credit card base layer can take up to 7 days to clear...
Credit card transactions and payments typically take 1 to 7 business days to clear
...which is why they built a 2nd and 3rd tier on top of the base layer, to make the transactions faster.
Bitcoin base layer transactions typically take 10-15 minutes to clear. Which makes the bitcoin base layer at worst 150x faster than credit card systems' base layer, and much MUCH cheaper.
Of course that is still too slow, so a tier 2 layer was created (lightning) making it clear instantly, as fast or faster than credit cards tier 2 layers.
He actually had no idea that credit cards needed the same workaround (additional tiers built on top of the base layer). Extremely uninformed, like these two goobers opining idiotically in this thread.

Crypto is a pump and dump scheme for the wealthy. Also what if the fricking power is shut off? Are you going to put all of your eggs in a digital basket? If shite goes sideways than you will need to have material resources, know how to barter, and be able to defend your stuff. If you got in super early and values shot up it makes sense to keep it ,but if you are trying to get into crypto now it makes no sense.

That person has no idea what Bitcoin is
Although people use it as one, it was never meant to be an investment.
Bitcoin is a currency or medium of exchange. .
And its value is predicated on the same principles of any other currency- be it the U.S. dollar or the Haitian dollar.

Well let's see.
1. Your credit card wont work (and all CC terminals will be down anyway).
2. Your banking app won't work.
3. The banks will be closed.
4. The ATMS will be out of order.
5. All payments will stop.
6. Your heat won't work (unless you have solar or gas that doesn't require power from the grid).
7. Water will stop flowing after a few hours.
8. Public transport will stop.
9. Internet will be down
10. And yes, Bitcoin won't work.
But that will be the least of your problems.
Mmmkay?

Moving those goal posts again, I see. Now you've moved entirely off bitcoin and are talking a completely different subject. But we don't forget.
First it was "you cant buy anything with bitcoin"
Then it was "Walmart doesnt take bitcoin"
Then "you cant buy coffee with bitcoin"
Which morphed into "no one with a brain will take bitcoin".
Then after a well placed Steak and Shake commercial, you changed that to "what if the electricity turns off".
All shot down. One after the other.
Yer just an ignorant old man. The world has moved on and left you behind. You were wrong about everything, boomer.

What did you use to buy your bitcoins? US dollars right?
Just admit it, bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme. We don’t blame you, if I’d have gotten into the scheme early and were sitting on a fortune of bitcoin, I’d be pumping it also.

Sorry kid. You dont just get to make idiotic claims and not expect to be corrected by your betters.
And IDGAF if you buy any bitcoin or not. Just like I don't care if you buy the same stock I have, or invest in the same metals I hold. My finances are in no way dependent on what you do or don't do

Exactly and when his bitcoin is sold, he will take the USD.
Why is that?

I made money on it from $10,000 to $30,000. Pure speculation. How much are your beanie babies worth?
Posted on 2/5/26 at 11:32 am to John somers
Let’s just say I don’t own bitcoin now, give me- and all of us- a good reason to buy now
