If a democrat president would be doing these same things, we would have nonstop threads blaming democrats because mechanical pencils went up 10 cents. Now we just allow businesses to pass massive costs to consumers but defend it to the fricking death because its "oWn'InG ThE LiBs"

First of all, opposing tariffs in general has nothing to do with principles. It just has to do with understanding basic economics and realizing that tariffs are a stupid thing for America to do.
Secondly, I don't know enough about global trade conditions in 1778 or 1800 or 1820 to know if tariffs made any sense back then or not. I do know that there was no income tax back then yet. I do know that the words "global economy" didn't mean then what it means now. I do know that the economics of slavery existed then and doesn't exist now.
So I am inclined to conclude that IF broad general tariffs ever made any sense for America, that time was long ago. They certainly don't now.

Cheap is correct but you moved to medical supplies which aren’t cheap, in cost or product make up, those things are needed since production went overseas to increase profits. Little Johnnie’s toys or those mommies new throw pillows are cheap made and useless. But again thanks for the backup for need for American production on truly necessary supplies. Do you have another goalpost to move ?

What everyone here and even Trump doesn't seem to understand is that the SCOTUS didn't say you can't have tariffs, just the president can't implement it by himself.
If it is such a good idea, get congress to do it. They won't because tariffs are dumb as shite and just a tax on Americans, but for some reason MAGA has become the party of more taxes.
