They're doing a great job of convincing people he's the man for the job.

Throw in the 'warrior board' to root out work generals and our military may be respectable again.

Fox News host who hates women and is too dumb to run the Pentagon. This tells me he was a great choice by Trump

This tells me that it was a surprise choice by trump and the fact that Pete will have to rely on his advisors for the answers to global positioning and evaluation processes only highlights that position.

You can take the best welder in the world but should think twice about making him the president of a corporation constructing pipelines across national boundaries.

I love Hegseth = but I am flabbergasted that he has the stroke to actually take command of the nation's defense against the entire world of threats. Being gung-ho is great = but not an all exclusive trait.

I trust that Trump has the whole concept under control - and will support him until proven that he doesn't.

However, I do not discount the magnitude of the catastrophe if that 'control deficiency' happens in our defense structure.

God bless us all.

edit = now IF this is merely a choice to put into effect changes to get the primary focus of our military back to developing the most lethal, proficient, highly trained, loyal, dedicated army known to mankind, while leaving all the monotonous, but essential, logistics, maintenance, recruitment, deployment, transportation, etc, 'miscellaneous' operations to the other '4-stars' then FINE - They can use their expertise to make the force more available, while Hegseth operates to remove all the malignancies that have grown over the past half century - or more.

Hegseth's choice could bring sweeping changes to the military. He has made it clear on his show and in interviews that, like Trump, he is opposed to “woke” programs

Where were their concerns when Austin came in and got rid of warrior leadership and implement morale damaging woke policies that have weakened our military?

The more the frickers in the MIC and DC squirm the more I like the pick... Screw the "we have always done it this way crowd" and the "National Security Heavy Hitters"...

Trump needs to be looking at the Service Secretaries and who is going to be his CJCS...

Trump fully realizes that the entire upper echelon of the Pentagon was installed there during the Odumbf*ck administration. He knows that every single one of them had to swear an oath and kiss the d!ck of their Dear Leader and Messiah Odumbf*ck. The Pentagon has become nothing more than the militarized branch of the Odumbf*ck Cult.

Congress wants one of their fellow dinner party politicians in that position. The defense budget is a deep trough and they want someone that will eat along beside them, not someone who will push them away.

They must be worried his budget doesn't buy $500 hammers. I support the military but there are foxes in the henhouse siphoning off funds that need to go to equipment for actual soldiers, and leaving equipment in the field for our enemies like Afghanistan

As a 72 year-old here is my take. Maybe it's time to pass the baton to the younger generations of political discourse to have some fresh input on how things can be governed. In my years it has seemed politicians have always been groomed by the older politicians to fill their roles once they are no longer able to lead this country as long as the younger ones did it th older ones way. This applies to both parties. It's an antiquated way of doing things and the reason we always hear the phrase "same old same old" being repeated when it comes to politics and politicians.

Does experience count? Sure it does but so do new ideas. New ideas gives you an opportunity to travel a road that is not wallowed out with ruts on the old road. So I'm ready to try a different approach to finding a different path going forward. Politics is an entity that had a beginning about 250 years but it will never have an ending as long as man walks the earth.

I'm more than willing to ride shotgun and let the younger ones do the driving for me. After all, I was the younger driver at one time.

Chief Heritage Hoax Liz Warren's ancestors were all killed by US military at the Wounded Knee Massacre so she knows a thing or two about how vile the US military can be under the wrong leadership.

Lloyd Austin was a genius, though.
