A big part of the issue is that our border is the river. A river that can flood at times, which means the wall cannot simply be built next to it.
We sacrifice miles of our land for the sake of the wall/fence by building it on our side of the river. The wall goes straight even though the river turns. We've already placed the wall BEHIND:
Wildlife refuges
A personal residence
Heck, wildlife watchers spent over 400 million in the Rio Grande Valley. If those animals die out, that's 400 million less that Texas gets in revenue.
Terrestial animals that can be impacted because their primary water source is now blocked off include ocelots, white tailed deer, bobcats, and jaguarondi are some of the species impacted.

Chihuahuas aren't the best at digging out of the yard

The only species that migrate over the border is Homo sapiens, and that is its purpose!

There's a whole lot ignorance in this thread in how the wall will actually be built and how it impacts things.
It will prevent animals in the Southwestern US from access to their fresh water source (the Rio Grande River) because we're building the wall on our side.
Accept as the consequence, fine. Be honest.
Speak in ignorance because you don't understand how wild animals work, then STFU.

It is just one of many reasons the wall is stupid.
It is way down the list of my concerns, but yeah, it is a reason.

The Alaskan pipeline destroyed all life. They can use that

Cry more. That wall is going up and jaguarondi might pay the price.

This thread is very clear that Teddy Roosevelt would not be a modern day Republican. Probably Libertarian with Conservationist leanings, but sure as heck not Republican.

Won't they just fly over or burrow under with all the hermanos? That's what I've been told is going to happen anyway.

nobody is crying
we are just telling you all that there will be real ecological impacts of the wall
you all don't care, cool, but plenty of people do
some people actually care about protecting the natural order of things

I bet we could build a lake or two. Or divert a stream to run on our side.

...and just how would you do that without being a breach of the wall?

Walls will disrupt the migration of animal species.
Evolution should take care of that.

I think it's a minor concern but I can't really think of many species that it would have a large effect on. Ocelots are the main one, they would have a greater chance of being extirpated from the US, but honestly with the development in south Texas they don't have much of a shot anyway. Natural migration wouldn't be enough to bolster the population and they are already relocating ocelot from Mexico to the US.

Nope. I estimated some border fence back around 2006. They had small openings for animals to be able to cross. The only thing in your list that would be impacted is the deer.
