The initial response with a question to grok was telling

quote:

@grok
can Iran win this war

quote:

Predicting war outcomes is speculative, but based on current analyses, Iran has strong asymmetric capabilities like missiles and proxies, yet faces superior US/Israel air power and tech. A prolonged conflict could inflict heavy costs on all sides, but Iran winning decisively seems unlikely without major allies intervening. Peaceful resolution is preferable.

Russia is clearly weak and that is a primary reason Israel felt bold enough to attack and drag us in

China may have some issues with Petro but will they threaten war over it? For Iran? Instead of buying more from Russia? Hell, SA wants war with Iran and I'm sure they could make up some of it.

Except, I just proved you're making all of that up.

With direct quotes and citation.

"we all know you did it" while you can't post anything to back it up and I just nuked that lie out of orbit is a bad way to start your day. This is an L the size of Russia.

Using Grok is lame AF. Try harder. It does in fact give a lot of wrong answers and citations which don't actually exist

Agreed... he's probably one of those attorney's who used it for case law... until the Judge finds out.

Uh, no.

As far as I know, I'm the first attorney in my region to draft an AI addendum for my contracts detailing what is/isn't permitted and authorized, with that, obliviously, bein impermissible on the attorney end.

Doing the actual research is one of the few stimulating parts of the job to me. I wish I got to do more of it. The less academic-minded (and often less intelligent) attorneys are the ones who do that AI silliness.

There are a couple of scenarios where it plays out.

quote:

Russia is clearly weak and that is a primary reason Israel felt bold enough to attack and drag us in

Russia is weak but it has signed a treaty or deal or something stating it will defend Iran. Russia has also deluded itself into thinking it is stronger than it really is. I expect Putin does not honor his commitments to defend Iran just like he did not honor them for Venezuela and Aremnia, but Putin is unpredictable so he might feel like he has to defend his butt buddy. That leads to WW3.

quote:

China may have some issues with Petro but will they threaten war over it? For Iran? Instead of buying more from Russia? Hell, SA wants war with Iran and I'm sure they could make up some of it.

quote:

In summary, we believe that the ESPO pipeline is a critical route for Russian oil to reach its key consumer, mainland China. However, this pipeline seems to be at its capacity even before the Russia-Ukraine crisis, and it is unlikely for Russia to be able to increase its existing supplies to mainland China via this route. The other pipeline, the Atasu-Alashankou Pipeline, has limited spare capacity.
LINK

China getting involved is the more likely scenario. China needs oil and with the US having influence over Venezuelan oil sales. Russia's ability to supply them with more is currently limited since of Russia's pipeline network is designed to move oil and gas west not east, and NATO has lost fear of Russia's ability to protect its shadow fleet. China could see that it is in its best interests to try and save the Islamic Regime. However, I also think that is unlikely. They know that their navy is not strong enough to challenge the US Navy outside of the South China Sea and areas close to China. The only way to get hevy equipment to Iran is through their rail connections with Iran which would quickly be disabled. China could boost Iran's air defense but that is all right now. Given these limitations and the turmoil going on in the PLA at the moment it is much more likely that they try and buy more oil from Gulf countries instead of choosing war. Therefore in summary, WW3 is highly unlikely but it not impossible if China and/or Russia decide to do something that outsiders (aka us and the so called experts on the internet) think is stupid.

FYI, check the date on that post and the thread where it was made. It's not about this incident

Although WW3 is unlikely here, too

quote:

Russia is weak but it has signed a treaty or deal or something stating it will defend Iran.

I reckon they're going to have to break that treaty

quote:

Russia has also deluded itself into thinking it is stronger than it really is. I

Their failure in Ukraine probably has shifted this a bit, at least for intelligent people like Putin. Now the diehards? They could be a problem, but I have to imagine they understand how bad off the Russian military is currently and how big of a failure the Ukraine invasion has been

This would be a direct conflict with the United States and we would destroy them, and I have to imagine they understand that at this point as well. Well. It would severely hurt them. Domestically to have such an embarrassing loss, especially since we could do it so quickly and an active engagement and not even let them do their meat grind or tactics that is the Russian style.

quote:

China could see that it is in its best interests to try and save the Islamic Regime. However, I also think that is unlikely.

I believe it's more likely that we could get Russia to stop supplying them oil if they tried to get involved here than anything else. If that happened then China would grind to a halt and China knows that. They are in a precarious position at all times due to the Petro issue, so they have to be very careful and their options are becoming more limited by the day.

The United States is weighing precision strikes on “high-value” Iranian officials and commanders who it deems responsible for the deaths of protesters during the recent brutal crackdown

It would be an extraordinary feat if the on-the-ground intelligence inside Iran was good enough to identify the location of individual responsible people with enough accuracy to allow for a missile or bomb strike.

This is a major reason why we let Israel have so much influence in our politics
