The US Democratic Party will strain every sinew to foil Trump's Iran war effort by any means necessary.
If the Dems win the mid-terms, they will have much more ability to stop the war.
All that's necessary for Iran to win this war is for the USA to give up trying for regime change. Democrats forced the USA to give up in Vietnam and they would like to do the same in this situation.

I do not think the US Navy will allow a Chinese merchant vessel known to carry weapons, whose intended use is to kill US soldiers, to land and resupply our enemy.
Of course I don’t think China will decide to send such missles, given the presence of the US navy and the amount of trade we have with China.

Vietnam? We defeated them in nearly every military engagement. The VC was shredded after the 1968 Tet offensive. But, what did we gain? The Saigon government was totally corrupt, the countryside was infiltrated with Northern forces and the rural population was screwed over by indiscriminate bombings and the bullshite Strategic Hamlet program.
All this to say we can still win every battle but lose the war by failing to accomplish the principal objective.

First, after we shredded China's air defense systems, Iran is likely less than trusting of Chinese equipment. Second, the closure of Hormuz is more likely to force a Chinese alignment with us than with Iran.
