Trump just rolled back the ban on incandescent light bulbs. Obama outlawed any bulb over 60 Watts, leaving only LED's and CFL's.
Well, incadescents don't contain mercury so they're better for the environment.
Guess the libs are okay with contaminating our environment.

Maybe we should ban private jets then. All the rich celebrity leftists clamoring to save the environment will surely get behind that right?
You're pretty full of shite huh?

You should tell them next time that LEDs contain no hazardous materials. It's a circuit board pretty much.

I think it's a bad move for Trump. LED's are better in every way that the old incandescents. I mean it's not a huge deal that I'm going to cry over, but we should encourage people to switch to LED's

Now, it is like seat belts. I was pissed when they became mandatory, but if that law were changed tomorrow, I would still use them and make my kids do so.

They push these things with the lie that they last 10+ years. bullshite. If that were true, I wouldn't have had to replace any of them yet.
Mostly because they had to lower price by skimping on heat sinks. So the newer bulbs are more cheaply made than the old $20 bulbs from, say, 2010. Some of it is also probably due to planned obsolescence.
Keep an LED cool, and it will run 20 years easy.

I don't see light bulbs as a safety issue
If the product is better people will tend to buy it over time. Will they all buy it tomorrow? Of course not. Of course that's a feature not a bug to capitalism and markets

I hate these new bulbs. They don’t have the so-called life and cost much more.
Trump helping out the poor man again.,

I remember a video from the floor debate and Republican congressman's speech which discussed, amongst other things, that the incandescent light bulbs was one of the greatest American inventions in history, then on to reference needing Hazmat suits if you broke them.
I opposed the government mandate because it was probably just typical crony capitalism deal between GE and the Jug Ears administration and the dims in congress to make us buy more expensive crap that would enrich the libs at GE.
My recollection of the dim talking point was that these bulbs would help millions of Americans reduce their carbon footprint and combat global warming. I have been trying for years to make my carbon footprint as big as possible because CO2 is plant food and antropogenic global warming is a hoax.
So I opposed the ban on those grounds as well.

I would prefer a law against planned obsolescence like the French have, and this problem would take care of itself. Incandescents can last a lot longer if they were made with higher grade materials.

It’s sorta a lie, sorta not. Everybody got a chubby about LEDs because they do last that long, but unfortunately they need a circuit board to work, and the circuit board most assuredly don’t always have that lifespan.
The main thing I don’t like about them (although I use them almost exclusively) is that if you have multibulb fixtures, and who doesn’t, matching the color when one craps out is a pita.

You may be too young to remember when Jimmy Carter lowered the speed limit to 55 mph in order to save fuel. Now if you drive 55 some trucker driving 89 mph will run over you.
When government makes stupid laws it usually just a waste.
I like LED lights but I shouldn't be prevented from buying incandescent if I have a need for one.

If they’re better then they will naturally win in the free market. No reason for Govt involvement

For pure lighting per watt led is the king

Called rough service incandescents and they've always been available. Uneducated consumers are the problem, as usual.

I can’t tell you how many $7-$10 LED light bulbs I’ve had to replace after a couple months that went out.
Posted on 9/6/19 at 8:08 pm to AUstar
LED's never last as long as the manufacturers claim. They are almost made entirely of plastic, so all those LED bulbs thrown away are going to add more garbage to landfills.

Hey dickhead. My sister, who was once an attorney, cannot tolerate the light or sound of any lights other than incandescent bulbs. She has brain cancer. We had to buy a pallet of normal bulbs before Obama changed shite. We were running out so I’m glad Trump changed it. You can frick right off.
