"Trump ending the unjust government ban on physical objects."

FIFY

Let the market decide what bulbs are most economical. If LED's are more cost efficient, people will buy them anyway. The main issue is that no one has the right to prevent someone from selling incandescent light bulbs.

When this law went in effect, it was to push the toxic mercury-filled fluorescent bulbs that nobody disposes of the right way.

They may use less electricity, but I’m not convinced they last any longer.

I can’t tell you how many $7-$10 LED light bulbs I’ve had to replace after a couple months that went out.
This is NOT an attack upon you personally, but you must be buying crap brands. I have NEVER replaced one in less than two years, and most have lasted five or more.

I have a couple that I was still using at close to 15 years and replaced just to upgrade the technology. (I write the install date in Sharpie)

I've tried several brands in a commercial setting. I have changed them out and had companies send me new ones. I change them out, bare minimum, once a year

Well...thats just like your opinion, man.
People should have the right to choose.

GE and Phillips if I remember correctly. It wasn’t some no-name brand for sure.

I’ve got a fricking POS Jacuzzi toilet in my bedroom bathroom that won’t even flush a piece of toilet paper if it’s placed toward the front part of the bowl. I have to “piss it down to the bowl” for the fricker to flush.

Flushing a 1.6 gal terlit = 4.8 total gallons.

Definitely saves more water than a 3 gallon flush.

The ban on incandescent bulbs was bad for poor people.

CFL's aren't bad now but LED's are still a little pricey. I mostly have LED's because I can use them with dimmers and they don't give off much heat. I'll never buy another incandescent again but I'm sure there are people that this will help, maybe. The next administration might nix it so which company starts back making them?

Some people prefer incandescent lights because of the color though not all of them are the same and they use nearly 10 times the amount of power for the same number of lumens.

Some dimmers don't get along with dimmable LED lights. So there is that. That will change in time.

I've gone all LED and I've only replace one bulb in the last 4 years. The fact that they don't fry light fixtures helps too.

Same thing here. 2 flushes every time. I've got an old toilet in my basement bathroom that will suck down a basketball.

Absolutely. I cant remember exactly, but the LEDs of the time were comically cost prohibitive for the less fortunate amongst us back in '08, '09, '10 at a minimum. Then, and beyond actually. As usual, many those feel good environmental regulations disproportionately affect the aforementionedand less fortunate in a bad way. If burned out bulbs have piled up and finally the expenditure can't be avoided, that's a decent hit to a struggling household.

False.

When Minnesota replaced all the traffic signal lights with LEDs the snow and ice built up covering the lights and causing accidents because the warmth of the old ones melted the ice.

Solution was to install expensive lightbulb heaters in the traffic lights.

It's been a disaster.

If LEDs are so awesome and that much better, why are the regs necessary?

It wasn't even easy for people with disposable incomes to swallow. I think it cost me 120+ to replace the bulbs in my recessed lights in my living room 5 years ago.

Then my master bedroom and hall. shite was expensive.

My BIL is a regional sales manager for a national electric supply company and he said last year that it still wasn't economical to switch to all LED's.

It's because LEDs (ie smartbulbs)have the ability to spy on you. You don't really believe he did it for the environment do you?

Cash for clunkers? Nope, let's make sure there is a computer and GPS tracking in every car.

From NYT article: Whether or not you pay any attention to the lighting overhead, the lighting may be paying such close attention to you that privacy advocates are warning about the “terrifying” potential for misuse.

LEDs can listen to you

Well why be the least bit concerned about it then? The market will effectively ban the bulbs itself and govt can back off.

I know that sounds crazy but why did the govt mandate last year that all new vehicles must have back up cams?

And the cars are all linked to some system like onstar
