Ben Franklin fricked every maid in France and single handedly disproved Mesmerism using the first double blind study. Total badass.

Ben was an OG hagmaxxer. He loved the older women with plump rumps

Here's more of his musings on older women:
quote:

I repeat my former Advice, that in all your Amours you should prefer old Women to young ones. You call this a Paradox, and demand my Reasons. They are these:

i. Because as they have more Knowledge of the World and their Minds are better stor'd with Observations, their Conversation is more improving and more lastingly agreable.

2. Because when Women cease to be handsome, they study to be good. To maintain their Influence over Men, they supply the Diminution of Beauty by an Augmentation of Utility. They learn to do a 1000 Services small and great, and are the most tender and useful of all Friends when you are sick. Thus they continue amiable. And hence there is hardly such a thing to be found as an old Woman who is not a good Woman.

3. Because there is no hazard of Children, which irregularly produc'd may be attended with much Inconvenience.

Washington is just impossible to beat, he's basically the only man in history to have the option of total power and said "no thanks" (there's like one example from Roman Empire, Cincinnati's or something like that who also did) and that's not even mentioning the whole badass winning a war for us thing

Jefferson pre Presidency was up there with Washington but unfortunately he contradicted himself quite a bit while in office. Still great though

I get the disdain that Hamilton is treated with but it's worth noting that Washington found him
To be indispensable which leads me to believe there must be a lot of nuance there. Pretty hard to believe Washington would be so devoted to an England loving monarchist

I go with Jefferson as well!

quote:

Thomas Jefferson emerged as Alexander Hamilton's most vehement and influential opponent on the issue of central banks, particularly the proposed Bank of the United States (BUS). As Secretary of State under President George Washington, Jefferson's opposition was both ideological and personal, framing the bank as an unconstitutional overreach that threatened agrarian democracy and states' rights. His arguments ignited one of the earliest and most enduring political fault lines in American history.

The Trump Administration released these leading up to the 4th of July, an absolute roster of rebels with a cause. They’re available at WH.Gov and most are two minutes or less and yes, I had previously started a thread regarding them.

How in the world there was a tailor available in the colonies to clothe this MFer right here, Mr. Thomas Heyward Jr. of S. Carolina, ladies & gentlemen.

Nathaniel Bacon ...

Bacon's Rebellion

The rebellion was unsuccessful, but in order to appease the colonists and dissuade any further uprisings, the Virginia House of Burgess made adjustments to several laws. The rebellion itself was back in 1676 - 1677

Great topic! Everyone should read the Federalist papers. Which are nothing more than the founders persuasive arguments as they formed the principles of our nation. These documents should be the centerpiece of our education system.

If you ever get a chance, visit Boston and walked where they walked, drink where they drank, and see the graves of so many of the founders. Great vacation for properly educated adults

George Washington was unique among all politicians:
a. He was offered lifetime rule and turned it down.
b. He gave the fewest and the shortest speeches in history.
