I believe it to be the long game for outlawing religion. If enough violence is committed in the name of religion, then all religion will need to be done away with.

Leftists have always sympathized with anyone who hated America. In the 50s and 60s, it was the Soviets. Now its radical Islam. It's because they've always hated what Reagan called the shining city on the hill. Look at the lengths to which Obama and Biden have gone to destroy everything that America stands for.
Its especially why they hate Trump who wants to return to that ideal of America.

Good question. Because it’s a spiritual battle. Leftists have a spirit of contempt of anyone that worships Jesus. Most of them don’t agree with Islam, but it’s no threat to their spirit because it’s a fake religion and a false god.

Because the populist definition of "Them" for people on the left in the populist formula of "Us & Them" includes white people of European descent.
Since Muslims do not conform to that set of people, they are o.k. despite Islam expressing the exact things the left claims to hate about Christianity (intolerance, misogyny, bigotry, etc.), but to a much greater degree.
*Note that you can be white and of European descent and still be o.k. with the left if you do two things:
1. Disavow all traditional values and associations of white Europeans, which means disavowing Christianity among other things.
2. Bend the knee to all other races and cultures and grovel before them for your ethnicity and culture.
