Why do you think this? What will happen to cause a "massive dose of reality and unemployment"?

The 70s were the death of the American blue collar career.

The 2030s will be the death of the white collar worker.

quote:

White-collar jobs are likely to be more affected by generative AI than blue-collar jobs, according to a report released Nov. 27 by Pearson plc, a provider of online training, textbooks and skills assessments.

Approximately 30% of white-collar roles could be done by generative AI, Pearson found. However, less than 1% of blue-collar jobs could be done by generative AI.

Automation threatens blue collar jobs, AI threatens white collar workers.

Dude. You read my mind. I've been thinking about that all morning and was about to start a thread about it. I was moreso thinking why would a white, straight, working man be voting Dem? The democrats policies do not include white men

White, educated leftists have so estranged themselves from the working class that theyve forgotten the conditions under which their power exists. Behind walls built by a tradesman, through infrastructure laid by linemen, or under the protection of a soldier.

They only exist because someone more resilient than then allows them to draw breath, and when the lights go out, they will be the first to their graves.

You can look at this 2 ways. I have never looked down on hard working blue collar people that were old school Democrats. People in my family were that way. These were some of the hardest working people I know. My dad has a PhD and said these blue collar hard working Cajuns were some of the most ingenious and smartest people he knew. Could make and fix anything. He always told me “don’t confuse education with intelligence”. Many just never had the opportunities he had. Now these working class people have a home especially with Trump. So the Republican Party are welcoming these people. Democrats are pushing them out with ridiculous identity politics. The Democrat Party is becoming more and more elitist and separating from working middle class people. They may still have a bunch of people on welfare voting for them. So their coalition will be elite rich white (women) people and people who depend on the government for everything. I’ll take the Republican Party in that scenario.

There are opportunities in the trades. Yes it’s hard work, but there is money to be made. Mike Rowe said for every 5 tradesman retiring only 2 are taking their place. Everyone needs a plumber, electrician, HVAC, etc.

100%. We've driven young men away from trades and onto college campuses to earn worthless degrees. Now we have a generation of faux enlightened liberal fe-men with useless liberal arts degrees, living with their parents, who think they are better than the guy who keeps them from freezing to death every winter - and not enough men to keep the heat on.

Looks like the near trend will be a rise in blue collar wages and stagnation in the professions.

Young white professionals will be the losers. They'll still hire minorities and women.

Trump will still win white collar folks that want less taxes and regulation.

Those people stopped working in trades, by and large, starting 20-ish years ago.

That's why we have a lack of supply of people in trades, in fact.

I've postulated this is why you see a severe lack in the higher-end trades (like carpentry) especially.

You're connecting 2 dots that have nothing to do with each other.

We've kind of stopped steering young men anywhere. The focus today is on women and education.

ResumeBuilder.com surveyed 1,000 hiring managers across the U.S.

Key findings include:

52% believe their company practices “reverse discrimination” in hiring
1 in 6 have been asked to deprioritize hiring white men
48% have been asked to prioritize diversity over qualifications
53% believe their job will be in danger if they don’t hire enough diverse employees
70% believe their company has DEI initiatives for appearances’ sake

quote:

A few days ago Bloomberg published a report that should put an end to whatever internal debate you’ve been having over whether or not you’re really being discriminated against: Corporate America Promised to Hire a Lot More People of Color. It Actually Did. They analyzed hiring data from 2020 through 2021 for 88 Standard & Poor’s 100 companies, and found that during the Year of the Blessed Floyd’s Coronation, those companies hired 323,094 people ... of whom just 6% were White1.

The political groupie class who have changed their political identity 3-5 times since 2000, all around the concept of being "conservative", and claiming each new identity is the "real" conservatism.

These are the people who claim they were duped by GWB, McCain, and Romney when nothing was hidden.

These are the people who say they're "small government conservatives" while supporting bigger government or who "want less regulation and taxes" but love Trump's tariffs.

Most of the ones I know are scared of the Republican white supremacist boogie man or they have a fundamental misunderstanding of anything having to do with American foreign policy. It’s weird and ignorant with a good bit of media brainwashing over the past few decades.

2 reasons, either they are frail men, or just looking to easily take advantage of people.
