To sum it all up looking back, the Soviets posed an existential threat to the United States. They were committed to Marxist ideology, they fomented worldwide revolution, and sought the annihilation of capitalism. The U.S., being capitalism’s torchbearer was the USSR’s greatest enemy/rival.
except the Bolsheviks themselves were partly planned and funded directly out of New York City

The idea that OP thought he would start a thread to prove Russia really hasn't done anything that awful proves how clueless some people on here are.
Well that is quite an assumption.
So why do you personally not like them?
Let me edit to add, I know why I did not like them in the 70s and 80s. They were against everything that was American. They were communists dangit.
Today we are programmed to still hate them, but the message is less clear. When your kids ask why is Russia bad, what is your answer? What is your response when they point out other countries do the same thing and we like them?
I am not pro-Russia, but it is interesting to look at it from a 40,000ft view.

We whipped their arse in the cold war. Now like any victor we were willing to move on. But a LOT of people in Russia combined their:
1. sense of loss from being one of the top two world powers (we were #1 of course)
2. the humiliation of losing
3. the disillusionment of how "capitalism" has manifested it self itself in Russia an oligarchical kleptocracy.
Of course they can't blame themselves, human nature being what it is, so they blame their old enemy. Aided by politicians who capitalize on the old animosity, and the compliant media that work for them, the west in general and the US in specific are the cause for all their woes.
So they seek to thwart and stymie us because that's what they want. BUT they don't really want open confrontation because they know that ends badly for them. So they nip at our heels and do what they can to weaken us without an outright confrontation.
It's not a rational strategy, but it is a hell of a lot easier than trying to reform the Russian political and economic system. So in that sense it is a "politically rational" path, I guess.

While I 100% agree with you, I think we all need to also come to grips with the very high likelihood that the commercial liners was being used for something other than just shipping people.
I mean, it's not like this has never been done before.
No. I'm not excusing it. I'm of the mind that you'd need more than that to justify it. But, let's not sit here and act like it amounted to bombing a nursery either.

I had this debate with a co-worker earlier.
About everything we hate them for, we have done.
Sometimes we should look in a mirror.

No the Trumpkins and American right (Republicans) who used to be opposed to those enemies of our country now are their defenders because the “traitor” in the White House who turns CODEWORD information over to them “admires Putin”. So the Trumpkins do what they always do and favor that scumbag in the White House to their own country, It goes beyond reasoning that an American president would insult our allies and befriend our sworn arch-enemy but, whatever Trump says, his followers believe when he admits he is a liar. You Trumpkins follow his lead without question and now this ridiculous thread is started. If you had a knowledge of history, you would know that they broke 63 of 64 treaties during the Cold War, attempted to put nukes in Cuba thereby violating the Monroe Doctrine and slaughtered many more innocent civilians than the Nazis, but your hero refuses to believe they affected our elections and never criticizes them as he does our allies. He has no sense of decency so Putin is his man and he is Putin’s BITCH, so follow blindly Trumpkins, your man is in charge, lol, no really Putin is because he is more competent than that yellow coward draft dodger that all Trumpkins admire and follow.

What? Not wanting war does not equal love. it is the Dems who were enamored with Putin. However, it is now politically expedient to demand a war because you don't like who won the Presidency. Don't care how it happened....those of us that have been here since the 80s welcome our commie brethren to the party.

They do not hold fair elections . Russian government stages bombing and killed it own citizens then blamed Crimea , they just wanted a reason to invade Crimea to have access to the sea. Vladimir Putin’s orders kills or in prisons his vocal critics including his biggest opponent in this most recent election . They are engaged in cypher warfare around the world. They jail homosexuals . They dope at the olympics. They covertly work to deflect jihadism toward the Western Hemisphere . They people are not evil but the government that rules ( former KGB) is very shady and not shy about disregarding international law

Are you talking about the Malaysian Airlines jet (flight 17) flying from the Netherlands to Malaysia in 2014? What do you think could justify shooting down that plane?

I didn't say it was justified
But. I also think it's disingenuous to pretend they shot civilians for the frick of it.
Its a virtual certainty that plane was doing more than transporting passengers

They didn't justify it, Rob. They just claimed it wasn't them.
