They're assaulting him, but there's good reason.
They know g@ddamn well that the Kenyan's presidency was an utter and total failure. And they know that the people of America know it too.
They can't risk a relic of Hussein getting the nomination, because they know it's a guaranteed loss. It's also the main reason I want Biden to get the nod so badly.

Yes, he is. I'm not talking about guilt or innocence here; I'm talking about the fact that the Dems are strategically trying to take Biden out. Anybody should be able to see that.

I don't think Obama is allowing this out of his own volition. More likely, Dem leaders have their own favorites in mind, and they are advising him to stay out of it so he doesn't muddy the waters himself.
Dems are banking on his endorsement being the golden ticket for their eventual nominee. It's still early, with a crowded field. They don't want a perceived hint of an endorsement if he tried sticking up for Biden now.

There's a big difference. We have photographic evidence of Biden's perversions, but only 40 year old faded, unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, accusations of Kavanaugh by a dingbat who couldn't really remember a thing.
