We elected Meemaw. She's not great, but week 3 of high school football starts tonight and there have been very few COVID game cancellations. I'll take her over JBE any day.
Also, we have college football in the state tonight, for the second week in a row.

Well, MeeMaw watched the news the other day and saw a bunch of football fans in the stands not social distancing or wearing masks... Had the AHSAA send an email to all schools warning them she will shut the football down if they don't mind her....

It is actually the immunity protection under recently passed ACT-9 that keeps football from playing. Our legislators passed that law which mandates all school related functions adhere to minimum safety measures so they could be protected from frivolous lawsuits in order to get kids back in the classroom. Unfortunately, football is a school related functions, so principals, superintendents, and school boards are hesitant to break those minimum safety standards in order to play a football game during phase 2.
Either the minimum safety standards need to be relaxed/updated to match the current downward trend of the virus metrics or the governor needs to move us into phase 3 for football to start so our schools can maintain their immunity protection under ACT-9

Louisiana compared to neigbhor states
La looks worse then other states if you look at the cases and deaths since the beginning; but we look better over the last 14 days. And that is really the more appropriate measure for reopening.

What stats? It is irrelevant what happened 3 months ago. Cases as a raw number is also pretty irrelevant when Louisiana has been one of the states that has tested the most.
Louisiana Ro is under 1, percent positives have been under 10 percent for a month or so. Better than most Southern states, without a doubt.
