Why does anyone believe that no one is doing so?

Do you actually expect any player involved to publicly sue for peace?

Because politicians can’t take in billions of dollars with peace

If they were looking for peace it would be front and center.

No it absolutely would not. Neither Russia or Ukraine are going to make any concession publicly.

Besides, Turkey has been mediating ongoing negotiations throughout the ordeal, when Ukraine and Russia are willing to do so.

Define what you mean by nuclear war.
If you mean the US and Russian launching ICBMs at each, this will not happen. If you include small tactical nukes to prevent Ukrainian forces from entering Russian territory, then maybe.

Do you know how stupid you sound?

We can just lob a few nuclear warheads around the battlefield and that will be it. It won't escalate.

Do you not see how easily things can and will spiral beyond all reason?

To the crowd saying well Russia can just leave Ukraine, you sound just as dumb.

That is not going to happen. We need to deal with the world as it is.

Russia is in Ukraine and we actually need to help them find a face saving way out of this or risk killing hundreds of millions of people.

The more Russia gets their arse kicked the greater the risk for the planet.

A diplomatic solution can be found but the sides need to be talking.

I pray it's happening on some level.

I might be wrong, but Putin wants a buffer between Russia and NATO.

Then Putin really sucks at geography. NATO has bordered Russia every single second that NATO has existed. Turkey then joined in the 50’s, giving NATO control of all access to the Black Sea and of course bordering Russia (the USSR).

Most of the Warsaw Pact joined between 99-04, again most of them bordering Russia directly.

When are people going to stop believing that NATO is Russia’s motivation in Ukraine simply because that’s what Putin said the motivation was?

Russia wants eastern Ukraine because it’s historically Russian, strategically placed on the Black/Azov seas, and full of resources. It really is that simple.

That doesn’t answer the question. If you think he is being irrational why is no one calling him to a peace conference?
Hard to negotiate with irrational people. NATO/ U.S. / Ukraine have not invaded Russia. You do realize Russian troops are dying & mostly failing on foreign soil ?

The lengths some Americans go to protect Putin is astounding.

Look, I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt regarding not understanding my post.
I am saying that, yes, there is a possibility that smaller, tactical weapons would be used by Russia if they thought that Ukrainian forces were advancing on Russia. I did not say that the US would initiate this. But I still stand by what I said about strategic nuclear weapons (ICBMs). They will not be used. You do know what MAD stands for right?

Peace is only beneficial to the Ukrainian commoners who are fighting and dying. It's a hindrance to the elites who are gaining free money from the bloodshed.

The longer the fighting goes on, more people die.

Someone’s father, son, brother, friend. People who don’t want to be fighting in the first place.

Humanity is lost on the elites.

MAD depends on both sides acting rationally.

2 days after Xi met with Putin the Chinese foreign minister came out in favor of talks and noted that Ukraine has now become a life and death issue for Putin.

Putin cannot lose a war on his border and it doesn't look like he can win one either.

He needs a face saving off ramp or he may just burn the world down.

If Russia loses we just might all lose.

Now we can't let him win either

We need high level skilled diplomacy to find a path away from this risk.

Should FDR have called for a peace conference after Japan bombed Pear Harbor. The thinking being, "whoa, this could lead to a lot of death, better negotiate here".

Sometimes the other side wants war and your only recourse is to defeat them.

BTW - Peace talks have been attempted but the Russian's were not serious about them, not answering questions, sending low level people instead of true decision makers, etc.

If we told Zelensky to get serious or no more weapons, he would come to the table.

As long as we feed him resources he's going to keep feeling cocky.
