Because we do anything Israel tells us, Netanyahu playbook "sadam is currently developing a nuclear bomb, if we get rid of this regime it will have immeasurable positive consequences on the region" US neolibs and neocons mouths start watering and we go to war. Now he's pushing the same bs about Iran and the same suspects are calling for blind support for Israel. He's been crying about Iran being 2 years away from having a nuclear bomb since 92.

The U.S. dollar is the world's reserve currency. With that privilege goes certain responsibilities. Our main responsibility is to keep the shipping lanes open for traders using our dollar.

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan left a lot of people (understandably) pretty jaded. There wasn’t a ton of return on investment in most people’s eyes and the region is more unstable than ever. The less educated just grab onto buzzwords and phrases like world police, MIC, boots on the ground, etc…
I sympathize with that view. For instance I think NATO has run its course and we should the defense of Europe to the Europeans. We get involved in too many foreign entanglements like Libya and Syria. I don’t think we should start bombing Iran unless they attack us first or start to threat the world’s oil supply. All of that is different than complete isolationism which wouldn’t be a good thing.

Most likely the inflation monster.
Converting to the barter system overnight will kill a lot of people.
