From the tariffs?

The 2025 budget deficit was $1.74 TRILLION. And that number includes the revenue from tariffs.

I don’t think it will cause inflation because it’s not new money. It’s just shifting money from one pot to another. I view it as a good faith show that says keep electing MAGA and we will get the money back to the people.

Naw, we'll never see any money from a Tariff or DOGE Stimulus Check, or from any other source for that matter.

Why do I say that? What Joe Biden and his crooks didn't steal during his term, we borrowed. They stole everything. And right now this government is shut-down because the left leaning democrats want to steal more money ($1.5 trillion to be exact) to give to their Illegal Alien voting block.

Wrap your head around this boys and girls.........$ 37.8 trillion National Debt.

So it's simply not true we Democrats and Republicans don't have anything in common. Soon, we will all sink together on the same ship.

Never seen one. What I got last time was a relative tax increase.

Congress has largely abdicated it's role in regards to taxation issues and does not want to be bothered with it. So you have a better chance currently of making it up doing Uber or Doordash.....or playing the lottery.

Maybe we can get governance from the Supreme Court which "conservatives" have always railed against. As such you would have to rely on EO's. So Executive diktat.

I don’t know the math on this, but it seems to me the last stimulus checks had the ultimate effect of making us all poorer.

Wait what???… in a time where Americans are paying higher prices for everything and are already strapped for cash… it absolutely matters where the money is coming from… once again it’s robbing Peter to pay Paul

We are broke but we are still sending countries our tax money to pay for their pension and healthcare. We also have money to build a ballroom.

That's why when I hear people complain about the national debt it means nothing.

Of course not. That is the kind of stupid vote-buying policy that Biden would do. It’s redistributionist, marxist and inflationary. We have desperate need of revenue to lower our deficit and increase our revenue to debt ratio which is currently imperiling our place as the world’s financial leader.

I would not be shocked, but I do expect this to happen next year. However, the Trump Administration expects this as well, and they are working on ways to get around that, so we’ll see.

This x 1million.

That's like if you had 50k in debt on a credit card or something and you won the lottery and got 10k. Instead of greatly reducing your debt, you simply withdrew it in cash and went and bought shite.

You realize it’s not that kind of debt… a tariff is a import tax.., that excess you speak of doesn’t come from a foreign government… it’s comes from Americans paying more for goods that in reality (rather we want to admit it or not) can’t/won’t be manufactured in the US

Correct. Its redistribution, not new money.

Right. Short term gains in exchange for long term inflation.

No stimulus checks, please.

No and for the reasons stated in this thread.

Also, it won't be spent on necessitates like food, gas and rent. The entire check will go to new tvs, trips, dinning out, clothes, etc.

Some yes, some no. From various research, many businesses have been shielding consumers to some extents (ranging from 30%-50% by most reports) from the tariffs. As tariffs continue, they will likely move more costs onto consumers.

But again, that's largely irrelevant as the issue is the debt and the increasing amount needed just to service it. That money has to come from somewhere and that somewhere is taxation (whether that's tariffs or taxes or both) and that taxation will always end up filtering its way down to the consumer (for businesses, there's essentially no difference between income taxes and tariffs other than that tariffs can be far more temporary) so there's no sense in complaining like this is some new but obscure form of taxation.

Tariffs aren't the source, they are just a symptom (of both shitty trade deals which have made us vulnerably reliant on imports and of ever-increasing debt). If you really want to fix the issue, you need to focus on the source, not the symptom.

Thats built into the design of stimulus checks unfortunately. To stimulate the entire economy.

Most people on the right have jobs. We’d rather see the debt reduced than some inflation producing stimulus check.
