Days will be the same length no matter what the clock says. Get up/go to bed when you want.

May need to look for some land. Not so much of a rush now, but always nice to be prepared.

And yes I know my wish isn't fully possible year round but would be nice to get as close as possible. I don't like how the time change moved out. Keep the fall back in OCT.

I understand it perfectly fine I just disagree with you guys. Daylight savings time isn't necessary because the daylight hours naturally get longer that time of year and if you left it on permanent daylight savings time then it stays dark too long in the mornings.

I'd rather have more daylight in the morning than in the afternoon.
Which is why the present system is perfect.

I think it's awesome. I love not hearing noisy lawnmowers, weedeaters, and blowers when I get home from work. No screaming kids or barking dogs.

I don't have to wait till 9 o'clock for it to get dark inside and go into movie watching mode.

I agree with you. It fits perfectly with Halloween always occurring right around the time, too. Can get dark early and put on movies.

The days get super short this time of year. It's going to be dark a great chunk of the day. People who want DST have this weird thing where we pretend it won't be dark early regardless.

What? The present system is DST for half the year. That gives you less light in morning and more light in evening.
When Std Time is year round you have more light in morning and earlier darkness in evening.

Timezones are man made and drawn around borders that don't always fall into where true timezones would be if they were just scientifically drawn with straight longitude lines.

Well sure, population centers and vast empty ocean expanses are taken into account.

It seems like if the Northeast wants to stay on normal time and the Southeast doesn't, then would be easier to move the northern states over to the Central time zone

I’m still trying to figure out how different latitudes can be affected by a longitudinal system. Maybe I’m the dumbass here.

DST during the winter would have morning rush hour in the dark. That = lots of dead people, probably.

Also, light until 9PM is awful for health. Screws with circadian rhythms.

There have been places that switched to DST permanently. They tend to switch back because it sucks.

The only change that has a chance of passing is to eliminate DST, not standard time.

Neither. It was started in WWII to allow people to have additional daylight hours to grow Victory Gardens.

Last I checked, WWII is over.
I don't think that's right either. I was talking about the modern act from 1966. (The first one was during WWI).

You do understand that the entire world does not follow daylights savings time (including northern Indiana and Arizona), right? There are places that the time difference from where you live is different depending on the time of the year.

Timezones are a man made construct. They can be changed.

Right, but the shorter days make DST less useful after November and before March, plus it's really dark in the morning.

Until the school systems are willing to change their start times, there will be no agreement.

Florida pushed to make DST permanent. It fizzled out and has been sat on.

Alabama did the same. Problem is that the Feds don't allow states to opt in to DST but the do allow states to opt out. I prefer DST since it's dark at 5 PM.

Let’s do daylight wasting time. Forget 9:00 pm light days in the summer and getting dark before 5:00 pm in the winter. Reverse it.
