And yet another reminder to not even consider moving to Chicago.
Downtown Chicago, sure. But some of the suburbs are incredible.

That’s terrible to hear. That would be horrible to me if it happened to my youngest daughter who is about that age.
The most important thing is finding the perpetrator, getting them off the streets and ensuring whoever that is never gets back out there again.
The rest is trivial bs.

Chicagos a great place to visit during daylight hours. I wouldn’t be out past 9pm in the summer though. I would also never live there.

Modern society is too soft, when captured, tried, and convicted he should immediately be executed. There is no logical reason why this shouldn’t happen.

I think the closest I ever want to be to Chicago is probably Merrillville or Hobart, IN, and even that's pushing it. Gary, IN is too close in proximity for me to have any desire to have anything to do with the area.

Depends on what he's convicted of. Personally I think what he did sounds like Murder 1. I don't always support the death penalty but if convicted of that, I don't see why he shouldn't receive it. There's a reason we do have it. and this to me is a very heinous crime.

Lawrence Reed, 50, was charged with one count of committing a terrorist attack or other violence against a mass transportation system on Wednesday out of the Northern District of Illinois in connection with the Monday night attack.
quote:
Surveillance footage captured the moment Reed walked through the train car while holding a bottle and approached the victim, a 26-year-old woman with her back towards him. He then poured liquid over her head and body and attempted to ignite it, according to the criminal complaint.
quote:
Retracing Reed’s steps, investigators found surveillance footage of Reed at a gas station convenience store shortly after 9 p.m. on Monday evening. That footage showed he filled a small container with gasoline at a gas pump, then went to a blue line station nearby, according to the complaint.
He just went out to burn someone alive that night. I did originally think it would be a South American, but this one was home grown. Yogi was right though.

Illinois is a rather oppressive state. The firearms restrictions are pretty draconian and the taxes are much higher than I care to pay. And, if you'll take a moment to notice, that is an extremely affluent community that undoubtedly has taken steps to keep out the "riff-raff" in much the same way Martha's Vineyard does in Massachusetts.
I believe this familiar southern idiom sums it up: I ain't lost nuthin' there.
