How about we plant wheat in the US instead of soybeans for China?

quote:Holy isht. How can any human being be this un-self-aware (or outright dishonest). We are the country that placed sanctions-according to Biden-designed to destroy their economy and starve their people.
This comes as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused Russia of using food as a weapon
Now we're whining because they aren't producing enough food to export?
Un-f*cking-believeable.

The opening scene of Red Dawn describes global chaos that includes Ukraine wheat harvest failing.

Luckily US has enough for itself if it quits exporting.

Les Miles has lost control of the wheat situation

Yes. And stop using acreage to grow corn for ethanol. Use that acreage for wheat.
Posted on 5/22/22 at 2:51 pm to Jjdoc
Ukraine supplies 0.9% of the world's grain.
The US has enough in storage for a year in both wheat and corn. Farmers have been planting about the same acreage as before. Marginal corn acreage has been planted with soybeans instead, about 4% of corn acreage.
Total bullcrap article

We are fine on fuel. Same amount in storage this time of year as almost every single year for the last 3 decades.

BWAHAHAHA nary a mention of China's over 100 million tons stored. that is enough for 4 loaves of bread per week for each resident of China.
One testimony by one entity does not equal complete information.
India took precautions because the heat wave this year decimated its wheat crop

quote:i get this erie feeling the US will happily ship its food supply to Africa and not worry about us.
Unless things have changed since I last studied PL480 many years ago...this is not good for Africa.
We had programs to ship surplus wheat to Africa via NGOs. Farmers in the US got paid but the American taxpayer was essentially footing the bill to feed Africa.
I don't see any African nations on your Exporting pie chart. That means there will be pressure on the growing countries to voluntarily experience shortages for their own people in order to save Africa.
I hope I'm wrong but it's something to watch out for.
