I've had posters in this thread tell me at age 18 CP is on abteer path than Rooney AND Brazilian Ronaldo
Your initial list had Harry Kane, who at 18, was playing in League 1. I seriously doubt you saw him play at that age for Leyton Orient and could see he would have the ceiling he did.

In the years I've been watching these are the best 18 y/o I've seen:
Rooney (to discount him because Dortmund > Everton is foolish)
Robinho
Diego
Andres D'Alessandro
Tevez
Pablo Aimar
Cristiano (was 18 his first year at man utd)
Agüero (think he was 16 first time i saw him)
Michael Owen
Fabregas
Torres
Im sure I could think of some more but im busy. Shoutout to Milner and Delph for being thrown to the wolves way too soon.

Rooney at Everton was allowed to smoke and drink and eat all sorts of shite at Everton. Utd put a stop to that. Do you think Dortmund lets Pulisic do any of that?

8 goals and 4 assists.
Pulisic sits at 5 goals and 7 assists with a good chunk of games left. Don't mistake me for saying he's as good as Ronaldo at that age, but he is as productive and to say he doesn't have top 10 potential is pretty silly to me (not that you said that)

I don't think anyone was discounting Rooney's talent. He was ridiculous at 18.

Yea i was just listing guys I've seen over the years. And CR was plugged into Beckham's role strictly as a RW in that 03-04 season and mainly ran at fullbacks. He also dove all fricking over the place.

I was going back to an earlier post in the thread where someone pointed out that Dortmund is a bigger club. Obviously, but 17-18 y/o give zero fricks Rooney was amazing regardless where he played.

Rooney also was on the Everton squad that qualified for Champions League in a Premier League that was more competitive than the past few seasons have been.

Good list. Best I've seen that you didn't mention: Messi, Juan Roman Riquelme, Javier mascherano, Denilson, Raúl, Nwankwo Kanu(Ajax was a powerhouse at the time), and Nicolas Anelka.

I don't know how I forgot messi.
Riquelme was great too. I wish it was as easy to watch the argentine league as it was 10-15 years ago. So much talent.

The Argentine league was must watch mid 90's-early 2000's. So much attacking football with flare and skill it was sick.

I think that was his record setting goal for youngest goal scorer in epl history. Also ended arsenals unbeaten streak with that I believe. 16 years old

Holy frick, this thread was on page 3 last night.

I loved watching Riquelme at Copa America in 2007. He was amazing that tournament. I watched a highlight clip last night. It seems that no. 10's like Riquelme and Zidane don't exist anymore. Which is sad as that's what made that era so fun to watch.
Posted on 3/27/17 at 12:29 pm to crazy4lsu
There were some great Argentinian 10s in that era
Aimar, Riquelme, D'Alessandro, the guy that played at independiente with Diego Forlan

It was Fútbol de Primera. That shite was the best, hands down. They would show the crowd leading up to the game and it was fricking crazy. Marcelo Araujo doing play by play in Spanish was the fricking best.

Yea that's what it was called. The girls in the Quilmes shirts during the promos were fiya.

I know I'm biased, but Owen was a bad arse at 18... shame about injuries...
edit: actually, in retrospect.. him playing so much at a young age prob helped ruin his career... we should have been more careful with him
