He was by far the best player on Leicester City during their magical year. Now Leicester looks like well...Leicester without him. Now he is currently dominating games at Chelsea while leading them to a title. MVP of the PL for sure but I think he could be playing better than anyone in the world right now.

He is probably top five-ish after the obvious ones like Josef Martinez, Miguel Almiron, Tito Villalba...

If he keeps this up for 2-3 more years he gets into top 5 but he's like top 10-15 rn

A CM who is defensively minded is rarely going to be viewed as the "best player in the world" because fans love goals. Therefore, the fact that this thread even exists tells you just how much his play is overwhelming that bias.

No but he's definitely entered that elite world class tier that only 20 or so players are in.

Seeing him live last week was an absolute treat even if it was vs United.

No, but he is by far the best at what he does. He might be the most "important" player right now.

I've rarely seen a professional athlete make what they do look so easy. It's insane how easily he takes the ball off players.

Agreed. All 3 of those make Messi and Ronaldo look like League 2 players

Miguel Almiron is amazing. incredible burst of speed, even with the ball.

I would not say he is the "best" in the Messi/Ronaldo sense, but he is definitely the most "impactful" player today. That guy's work rate and range of coverage is insane. It's like there are 2-3 of him on the pitch.

I could see a case for him being the top midfielder. There are too many truly great forwards right now for him to be the best overall player.

If someone has an argument that he is better than Ronaldo, Messi, or Lewandowski I am listening.

That's what I'm saying and I think Griezmann and Suarez are ahead of him too
