More surprised if Berhalter stays or goes?

Common sense: more surprised he stays
Knowing how the US Soccer works: More surprised he goes.
With that said, keep this coach will have huge negative impacts on the upcoming fans and tournaments. They almost have to.

More surprising if he goes, this Federation sucks. At least we are getting a “comprehensive review” though. If Kloop really is interested, this Federation will finish that review the day after Kloop agrees to manage somewhere else.
Edited to add, we will then have a search committee and Berhalter will be on the short list.

Surprised if he stays right now, hopefully someone is putting together a team to pursue Klopp. I am not sure if he is the silver bullet for the USMNT's woes but I think he could potentially rebuild the culture surrounding the team.

Make Klopp's agent say 'No' then make Wagner's agent say 'No'
If there was ever a time for the Federation to make a splash hire this is it. Hosting a World Cup in just over 700 days.

Desperately needs a change.

No other country would keep him but I just don’t have confidence we’ll make the move.

I’m afraid that could mean, “we will wait until some of the heat dies down and pretend this whole thing never happened.”

They’ve demonstrated they don’t. Rehiring greggg process was a farce. Firing him will only bring them more heat without a splash hire and that’s not happening anytime soon. It’s a straight up mess. I think they expected him to do better this tourney but didn’t see what we all saw what was coming.

Waiting until the heat dies down and doing nothing is exactly what I think and fear will happen.

I’d be more surprised if he goes. Won’t believe it until I see it sort of thing.

Those dreaming of Klopp it won't happen unless they get real creative on salary like Miami did for Messi. As USSF can only pay a new coach the same as the women's coach.

They aren’t required but it there would be some people up in arms about it.

I’m at 60% stays, 40% goes. Matt Crocker was never gonna come out today and say we’re shitcanning Gregg. He was always gonna give a PR-type response about the review process and all that. Hopefully his “review” is short, and if he’s competent at his job, he’ll have a shortlist of candidates ready to go.
If we’re moving on from Gregg, we should hear leaks by the end of the week. The USSF is very insular, but big news eventually leaks and reporters will be scouring for intel. Even the federation heads have to sense that damn near 100% of the fanbase and most of the media now want Gregg gone. The morale of the fanbase is the lowest it’s been since probably 2019. They can keep Gregg, but they can’t force us to care about the team.
If we roll into the September friendlies with Gregg still in charge, I seriously hope all US fans boycott watching the team until a change is made. Embarrass the USSF by making the team play in front of hostile fans and hit them in the pocketbooks. Make it abundantly clear that this is unacceptable.

The soccer press is already against him. Stay and every problem will be highlighted. Go with new coach and fans likely give soke grace.
Problem is its so late in the cycle for any new coach to have time to test players and strategy. We are screwed either way but a new coach might minimize the damage. Unlikely though, we are screwed either way.
And the he WC will be a wasted opportunity that rarely comes around. Sad times for US soccer

Hes staying. When they "hired" him it was stated to be for 2026 world cup.
Literally every headline on the hire mentioned 2026, none mentioned Copa.
It sucks, but we're stuck with Gregg

ESPNFC mentioned this.
Is this true?

I don’t think it is technically true, but the USSF dug their grave with the equal pay bullshite for the players. Now that they have set that precedent, they will have to lie in that grave when it comes to paying coaches more, else they would look like huge hypocrites.

If he remains that will be an indication of where the real problem is within US Soccer.
Posted on 7/3/24 at 7:45 am to SmogkDeizKnutz
More surprised if he goes. Firing him now would require USSF admitting they made a mistake bringing him back

Most people will be doing this without even trying. These kind of disappointments take time & space to get over. And who could take the USSF seriously??
1. Missing the 2018 cup in the most painful way possible.
2. A hot mess of a coaching search that ended with us settling for GGG, the fallback.
3. Loss of our "tough, gritty" identity that has elevated U.S. teams for the last 25 years.
4. Knowing we're handicapped because of a big commitment to "equal pay" (for unequal revenues & wildly unequal markets) DEI bullshite instead of actually winning games.
5. Can't even get on the same page as our domestic league.
MLS has improved greatly in the last decade, so we have that going for us I guess lol
