Well it’s true

If it was a big deal globally countries would send their best youngsters to play in it

There are times countries do send strong squads but it’s not a regular thing

Every single US game for both men and women in 2028 will be a sellout. It will be a big event. Winning international tournaments, regardless of the level, is never easy. To the fans and to the players, that tournament will be huge. I guess some jaded people out there won't care, but frick 'em. Guys like Pedri knew the toll it would take on their body and still chose to go and almost walked away with a gold for it.

The matches will be sellout just like in 96

We will take it seriously but it’s always how other nations take it

Also it just depends what other youth international tournaments are going on that summer.

none of them are the Olympics

we can't control what teams other countries send anyway

Correct

Most nations prioritize the youth world cups or euros

Also true

By then our talent pool might be deep enough they don’t send A squad youth players as well. The pissing match between MLS clubs and the USSF will be epic about letting players go.

It's already passed Argentina. You just haven't been paying attention. The Argentine league is in shambles and the teams are losing a ton of money and having to sell players. Neither Boca or River Plate made it to the quarters of the Libertadores, and those are the flagship teams in their league. There are just as many teams in their first division as MLS and the back end is bad.

I don't mean to get into the middle of y'all conversation but the Argentine league is my wheelhouse. I'm a huge Racing Club supporter and have been following the league for over 25 years.

First, the league is nowhere near the level it once was. It's so corrupt that until that gets straightened out it will continue to get worse. With that said, the league as a whole is still better than MLS. Boca and River are currently struggling in the league and knocked out of the Lib but the average Argentine league player is better than your average MLS player. MLS gets a boost from their DP's which raises the standard but it's still not enough imo. A team like Lanus, who has a good bit of promising youth and good young vets, is sitting 2nd bottom. They would beat over half of MLS teams in a home/away fixture imo. I know that is just one example but I don't have all day

Now the Brasileirão has blown way by the Argentine league. They have all of the money and cherry pick most of the best Argentinians which never happened. You used to get one offs like Andrés D'Alessandro when he left for Internacional. MLS teams would struggle pretty bad against the top 8-10 teams.

Liga MX is still better than MLS as well. If MLS would take the kid gloves off and let the teams operate more freely they would pass both (Argentine and Liga MX) in a 5 year span imo. It's hard to compete consistently when teams like Rayados, America, Cruz Azul have triple the wage cap than you do.

MLS was 3 months old in July of 96. There will be 32 continuous years of D1 football by 2028. You just love to complain and be negative

Nah man MLS will be a top six league in 8 years bc he said so

Despite all the things working against it

I asked him what overall qualities in MLS players is better than Argentina and he had no answer

I completely forgot what the OP was about reading through this thread. I had to go back to see what you were even referring to

I mean lets not act like Alan Sonora would be some MLS superstar if he came back to the states.

The Primera Division is pedestrian as frick once you get past Boca and River Plate trying to literally murder each other. It's definitely in the same tier of quality as MLS.

Difference is that it has maxed out as a league, MLS has room to grow still. Not sure how much it will grow, but the potential is there.
