Yeah both stadium situations are portrayed the same way I feel. Of course it’s going to take a long time to get out from south beach to a stadium. It’s all the way on the ocean, kinda hard to build a massive football stadium on what’s essentially a barrier island.

Yeah. The cowboys stadium. As far as I know it’s a pretty decent drive from downtown Dallas/ the more fun areas to vacation and party.

For NY, Metlife is in jersey.

Sure theres public transportation and hotels around it, but no one in their right mind would stay there over NYC

about 8-9 mile drive from the Lincoln Tunnel.
(not sure how it will be in 2026 but right now an uber back and forth is a f'n nightmare) (traffic)

Ya I don't get that either. It's literally smack dab in the middle of the metroplex, and a couple mins from the airport. It's really in the perfect spot.

Disney OWNS ESPN

And currently Fox owns the rights and outbid ESPN/ABC for the rights to this years tournament.

Why the hell did Chicago back out?

It would've been a lock for knockout stage matches at the least.

Hopefully games will be at night though.

Not gonna work for European TV. These will all be noon and 3 PM kickoffs for prime time coverage in Europe. Which is why weather will be a factor.

I was in Dallas for Sweden-Saudi Arabia in 1994 and even the Saudi fans said it was hot!

Lack of financial transparency or something like that according to the mayor

I hope we don’t cater to them too much. A big part of the fun of hosting is we’ll finally get some night games.

Hope they have like a 1:30, 4:30, 7:30 time block. That gives Europe two games pretty much in prime time, and only one they’d have to stay up late in the night for.

But we need to at least have two of three games watchable for people working normal work days, and U.S. games at night so we can make a proper event out of them

I'm assuming it would be cheaper to fly to Qatar and see all of our group matches than it will be in 2026, right?

FIFA chose two cities to tour and chose New York and Atlanta earlier in the year. Atlanta was front and center of this bid. If you saw any of the footage of the 15-minute video that the United bid was allowed to show to the voters, half of it was Atlanta. We were able to demonstrate here that soccer has taken off in America. Atlanta United averages 53,000 in attendance, which ranks 15th in the entire world. This is our way of saying, ‘If we can do this in Atlanta, imagine what we can do in America with an eight year head start’. That was one of the factors that swayed the vote.

Just kicking the tires here, but anyone have a conservative estimate of how much it would cost to go to Qatar for 5 days and catch 2 matches in 2022?

Stop by your neighborhood recruiting office. If he's wearing a blue uniform, he can hook you up with a free trip to Qatar. Room and board included!
