Herve Renard would be a big hit with soccer moms across America, and he’s a great coach I think we can realistically get.

Whoever it is, I just hope they do a real search and actually try their best this time. Lots of good options out there without needing to settle for Cherundolo. Nothing against Steve, but we need a proven international coach for the next two years.

Klopp would legit be entertaining and bring the fire to our squad.

He is available so the odds aren’t zero. Can’t find any betting odds yet on the next USMNT head coach to see who the favorite is but Steve Churondolo seems to have a lot of buzz.

I’m sure id be underwhelmed with anyone outside of Klopp anyway though so it doesn’t really matter. I don’t expect us to be much improved under anyone else.

It’s ludicrous to hope for Klopp, and we shouldn’t kill our expectations because there are some quality coaches we could hire.

Theres this from last year:

Jose Mourinho in 2011:

"I see myself coaching a [club] team, coaching the national team or helping develop soccer in the U.S. When I'm tired of winning things in Europe, it's something I want to do. I want to coach the ???? national team, and I want to work in the United States."

I think they’ll end up with a mid-tier Premier League manager type like Graham Potter, Sean Dyche or Thomas Frank after striking out with the big candidates.

No, Klopp going to Southampton would be like Saban to Mississippi State.

This is Phil Jackson coaching Poland in basketball.

All of the articles I’ve seen for potential GB replacements, 90% of the names are MLS coaches.

There is NO WAY that we are getting Klopp. His salary at Liverpool was 19.5 million dollars. USMNT can even pay 1/5th of that. Klopp walked away from Drew Brees money, plus almost the same in marketing deals.

LINK

The US sports industry would have to put together a deal similar to Messi with coparate sponsors, etc just to get a chance and that's for a guy that's never managed a intl side.

I would love Klopp to coach our guys, but lets stop wasting time here and get real for a minute.

Look I think Klopp is at the very best a pipe dream, but if getting him $20 million a year was the only barrier, you can make that happen.

5 from USSF
15 from Nike
5 from the rest of the big sponsors

I agree that we are not getting Klopp, but managing Liverpool is a 11-month 60-ish match (friendlies, league, cups) grind. USMNT workload is a 1/5 of that.

Per Sportsology, the more times we say Klopp is not coming, the percentage of him being hired rises.

It’s science.

Also could see him saying that he will coach through the 2026 World Cup. That puts him at like 10-15 friendlies, 3 Nations League games, 2025 Gold Cup with no info but even assuming it's like Copa then that would be tops 5 games, then 2026 World Cup. Looking at basically a 30 match commitment over the next 24 months.

Obviosuly there is scouting and other things that go into it, but not a bad gig. Helps we have our primary guys playing in Europe now, so he doesn't even have to leave the continent to do a lot of it.

If we can even get the compensation package to be competitive it can be a tempting offer IMO.

I don’t think they leak this out unless its 99% done deal. Because you would not leak this out if it wasn’t going to happen else you set the bar way too high when someone else is hired.

I think there is a high chance he’s the guy.

Yes, but we are talking about the USSF here

Yeah but it’s the same guy that talked up Steve Cherundalo a few days ago.
