Not a Ream apologist, but what are your thoughts on the captain (for 6th place Fulham) not getting the nod, but Aaron Long having a look? Is there something to Ream’s and Jedi’s chemistry that Greggg should factor into his backline?

Hearing him discuss Pefok and Pepi on Counter Attack the day the roster came out made me think Pefok was not a lock but it was still possible
His reasons for not including Pefok when pressed were pretty shitty
There will be a moment (probably a few) where we will need a goal. You need goal scorers, full stop. Bring the guy who's putting the ball in the net screw the "tactics"

The narrative seems to be that he's a situational guy, but when I go back to review his matches, he IS the guy, no matter the situation for YB. Becker as your tandem is certainly a big help on UB. Obviously he scores a lot with his head, but there's plenty with his feet. Also, I see many times he's dropping back either as the point man or defensively. Is it as much as Ferreira? Maybe not. But he produces, and hasn't given Gregggg a reason NOT to have him as the no.9 at this point. Boy this 'system' better work out.
I would have liked to have seen Ferreira and Pefok split minutes over these next two matches in order to decide the starter. And then just be decisive and say to either Sargent or Pepi (if we're only taking 3 strikers), "thanks, you're still young and will have more time to grow" and move on.

Imo the three strikers should be Ferreira, Pefok, and Sargent, in that order.

With 26 players and pretty much all of your starting XI decided besides the 9, I think you can make an argument to take a fourth 9 instead of feeling the need to take a third backup midfielder.
Just buy as many lottery tickets as you can.
shite, Bob did it with a 23-man roster in 2010 with Jozy, Gomez, Buddle and Findley. Granted we played a 4-4-2 then, but still there is nothing wrong with taking that many.
ETA: Now that I think about Jurgen did it as well in 2014. Dempsey, Jozy, Wondo, Bacon.

There’s no reason Pefok should not make the plane. Even if he doesn’t start he provides an option off the bench if we need a goal late in a game. Unfortunately greg seems to be autistic and not of the brilliant savant type.

I mean, there is no point in taking a Cardoso, Williamson, Djordje, Roldan-equivalent, etc. as a 6th midfielder when 1) The expectation is for MMA to play pretty much every minute in Qatar, 2) You have Luca as cover for the 8's, Acosta as cover for the 6 and the ability to slide Reyna or Aaronson to an 8 in emergency.
Use that spot to solidify depth at more volatile positions whether it's at the 9 or CB.

I really don’t think Gregg B is the right coach. He has so much talent and feasts on that. But the problem is we have to be lookikg ahead to 26. My worry is we’ll make a nice run this fall in WC then falter over the next few years and have to find a new coach too soon before our 26 run.
Oilur last coach had issues but helped the foundation of US soccer at lower levels which I think is in better shape. But this hire was notcthe right one at a crucial time for US soccer. If he fails at WC level it will set soccer back and those marginal fans jump ship.
I think we have to make final 8 this year to declare it a success. We’ll see how it goes but I don’t have faith in his decision making especially at key moments. Pulisic was on a tear last year cementing Gregg’s job. But tactically I think he is weak and will be exposed in WC. I really hope I’m wrong and look forward to watching the WC this fall.

Gregggg gets an A for recruiting and being a players coach, but a C+/B- for being a tactful brain. I do give him props for evolving/adapting to player pool, but his naive stubbornness has also showed. I think he makes a good assistant for relational sake, but it would be nice to have someone with more internationally proven success. And let's not forget: his brother got him the job.
Here's hoping to a good WC, but I'm afraid '26 is our bread and butter.

MLS academies had more to do with that than Jurgen.

That would be awesome, but I don’t think we are at that level. I’m hopeful we get out of the group, and I certainly think top 8 is attainable, but if we lose a knockout game against the Netherlands (most likely opponent) I’m not going to call it a failure.
Ayosha, who do you think should take over for Gregg? I also would prefer a fresh start but not sure who the likely candidates would be.

The absolute baseline should be getting out of the group. After that, I think what constitutes a successful tournament depends on the R16 matchup.
I do think though that with how weird this tournament is, there will be a random team that makes a quarterfinal run. And I think once you get past the tier of dominant usual suspects, we have one of the more talented secondary tier squads.
What we also have going for us is that the World Cup is a young man’s tournament.

Not this year. In 2026 I feel like final 8 is minimum expectations based on current projections.

Tough question really. I've read too many articles asking the same question, and I find myself arriving at Zinedine Zidane by process of elimination.
ETA: I'd love Tab Ramos to be on his staff though.

GGG will play Acosta for Musa. Johnny is cover at the 6. After all it's his system.

Would be awesome, mais je ne croise pas les doigts, cher
I like Tab. Did a good job with the U20s but not so great with Houston.
