I saw that rumor a few weeks ago and thought no way he'd stay in MLS.......

I wonder if he ever wouldve gone to Europe before the injury now.

Not as good as Europe but at least a step up in competition. Having him bag goals in LigaMX is going to be sweet salt in El Tri's wounds.

Miles took the money not the challenge.

Yea it’s still a step up in expectations and pressure

Hopefully this doesn’t hurt his chances with call ups, I’m sure there will be pressure to take MLS players over LigaMX.

May not hurt but won’t help imo. If Vasquez wanted to be a contender in the national team picture he should have gone to Europe.

Yea agree but he is playing for a big club

It’s Mexico so he’s somewhat familiar and I’m sure the pay increase is substantial

Ya this has never been a thing. We've always had MX guys called up.

And Haji Wright who is playing LW and Sargent who can play RW should be called in ahead of Alex.

Or he values playing time over no playing time.

Said it in this thread earlier, there is a huge abyss of chaos behind Turner with our keepers. Like right now, I guess Gaga is #2 but he is also still incredibly young and raw with basically no international experience.

If you're a goalkeeper with a US passport and want to be on the World Cup roster in two years, all you need to do is have a good run of form, regardless of league, and chances are you're going to make the roster.

Which is crazy because we had 2 top tier/world class keepers at the same time in Keller and Friedel. We are a country that uses our hands to play sports......how do we not have 1 top drawer keeper?!?!

We were really spoiled from 1998-2014 with Keller/Friedle and then Howard following that.

Hell, it's not talked enough about how in 2010 we took 3 premier league goalkeepers to South Africa and we still had a fourth one there as well (Friedle).

Meanwhile, prime Marcus Hahnemann would be challenging Turner for the #1 spot right now.

I know we got a kid that made the bench for Barca recently, so maybe he could factor in for 2030 with Turner aging out.

The drop in quality of our keepers from mid 2000s in 2014 WC era is staggering

Turner as great as a shot stopper he can be is showing he isn’t a complete or consistent package this year at Forrest and now they are thinking about bringing Navas back.
