That would be career suicide for Gregg. One thing to bring him in a 26-man roster or to play him in friendlies with multiple injuries. Quite another to start for him the biggest opportunity of his (Gregg’s) life.

Reddit posters say he was good and not injured. Thinking it was a tactical choice to take him off so he can be rested for the mid-week game.

He's started the last 6 games for us. And before Robinsons injury was the first CB off the bench.
I'd love to be wrong, but Greggg appears to be set on him and Zimmerman.

And he's been the first one subbed off more times than not.
It wouldn't be the first time Gregg dumped a "favorite" because they kept failing after a lot of chances. Trapp, Lovitz, Ream, Lletget, etc.

I agree, but with no warm up games and a stupidity tight window for the team to prepare, I just don't see him taking any chances or tinkering. He'll go with what he knows which unfortunately is Long.
I think Ream should be on the plane. I originally thought his time was up, but other than a couple games this season he's been on fire. I watched the game this week and he was probably their best player. Maybe Gregggg could see his partnership with Jedi as an advantage and put him in at LCB, but I doubt it.

Ream is captaining Fulham his manager states he is the best CB on the roster and they are solidly upper mid table in the EPL. Ream should not only be on the 26 but should be in the starting 11. But Gregg is going to Gregg.

I'm old enough to remember when "Gregging" meant calling in Ream.
So what has Ream improved upon in the past year that made him go from "He should never be called in again" to "he should start in the World Cup"?
Also are we really comfortable with a Zimmerman/Ream pairing? Seems slow.

Not playing LB like Gregg played him at when the short Mexican exposed him. He also improved his competition level from The Championship to the EPL.

How many teams at the WC will our backline be able to play a high line against? Sala Kane Rashford etc are pretty quick that Ream plays against.

He played CB under Gregg too and still sucked.
But again, Ream and Zimmerman is simply too slow of a pairing to be together, it's either one or the other and Zimmerman is better than Ream.

I'm in that camp is well, I just don't think he will play Long.

We will have more possession than Wales and Iran for sure.

I had hoped Richards would supplant Long but he can't get healthy. Ream could play next to Jedi and that understanding would not hurt. I think CCV could be a good choice. Heck Miazga was better in the MLS than Long.

I am hoping one of the "things" Gregg learned is he can't play Long.

McKenzie is our most inform CB right now. But I think if Richards is healthy (long shot), he starts. He had already begun to supplant Robinson in World Cup qualifying before this injury saga.

He’s pretty good at not being injured at the moment.
